[Resolved] Updating translations for plugins continously triggered when WPML is enabled
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing an issue where continuous update messages for available plugin translations appear, even after updating them. This issue persists in a loop, and the client suspects it started after updating to the current WPML version following a support recommendation.
Solution: We recommend checking if the issue persists when WPML plugins are disabled, as this function is related to WordPress and not directly caused by WPML. There are similar reports online that are not related to WPML, which can be found here:
If the issue continues after disabling WPML plugins, it suggests that the problem may not be related to WPML. If the problem is resolved after disabling WPML, please open a new support ticket for further assistance. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.
If this solution is irrelevant because it's outdated or not applicable to your case, please open a new support ticket for further assistance at WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
I am trying to: Get rid of continous similar update messages for available plugin translations. Whenever I update them it comes back, says translations are available to then by clicking on update the same plugins receive a translation update. This cycle goes endless since a while. I think it started with the current WPML version when based on your support recommendation I unstalled the beta version (now updated to the final version) to cover the right php support.
Link to a page where the issue can be seen:
can only be seen in admin area
I expected to see: after updating all plugin translation no more update messages
Thank you for contacting WPML support. While you are waiting for one of my colleagues to take this ticket and work on it, let me provide you with the first debugging steps and try to help with the issue quickly.
This function is related to WordPress and not directly caused or triggered by WPML, so to confirm if this issue is related to WPML, can you please check if the same issue happens WPML plugins are disabled?
As I can see there are similar reports online not related to WPML:
Before reporting here I had switched of WPML and updated the plugin translation. It looks like the issue was not there anymore and no more translation updates have been shown. So thats why I suspect it a WPML issue.
To clarify, am I correct in understanding that the process you are trying to complete is not finished yet, and you receive the same messages regarding translation updates every time you open the updates page?
As Drazen mentioned, this function could be related to WordPress and might not be directly caused or triggered by WPML.
Have you considered temporarily turning off all the plugins except WPML and then partially enabling them individually to check if this issue persists?
Before proceeding with any updates, please remember to back up your database first.
Hello Andrey, I swiched off WPML and it works. The issue is not that the language update is not installed. The issue is that for a reason I dont get with WPML WordPress thinks an update of the language pack for some plugins are required. I guess its a wrong setting or DB entry as WPML to my understanding defines the languages required even for plugins. The process of swiching off all plugins you discribe, bears, given the platform nature of of our page with constant crons a risk for errors in the DB, hence we avoid to do so. Especiall in cases where we can identify the root cause Plugin easy like in this case.
I need to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site – preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible – in order to be of better help. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.
