This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are trying to activate WPML on your site, but updating the site past PHP version 7.4 breaks the theme. Additionally, activating WPML causes a critical error and crashes the site when accessing the translation dashboard.
Solution:
We have examined the issue and found that the WPML String Translation plugin causes the dashboard to become unavailable due to a critical error, although no errors are shown in the debug.log. We recommend increasing both the PHP memory limit and the WordPress memory limit to 512 MB to potentially resolve this issue. You can find instructions on how to increase the WordPress memory limit here.

If this solution does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket here.

Thank you for the update.

I am still experiencing a few issues accessing the website. The plugins section is once again not visible for the WordPress user you provided. Additionally, FTP is not working, and I cannot log in to your cPanel. Could you please check these issues?

I have tested them, but they did not work. I am receiving the following error:

Status: Connecting to ***.***.***.***:2083...
Status: Connection established, waiting for welcome message...

Ok I've updated your credentials again on WordPress (sorry I had to revert to the back up to get into the back end and I think that wiped my changes).

Also you should be able to try the FTP credentials again.

Thank you. The WordPress dashboard is fine now, but I still have issues logging in via FTP. I want to mention that I don't see the FTP access in the first private message, but I see it with the second one.

Let me activate the new private message so you can add all the access credentials again. If possible, please check if FTP works for you.

Thank you. I have used the FTP and am getting the following:

Status: Waiting to retry...
Status: Resolving address of <em><u>hidden link</u></em>*********s.com
Status: Connection attempt failed with "EAI_NONAME - Не вказано параметрів, ані nodename, ані servname, або невідомі".
Error: Could not connect to server

I have also attempted to connect with various types of encryption. I want to emphasize that having access to FTP is crucial for addressing the issue you reported, as it will help me regain access to your site in the event of a fatal error.

In the meantime, can I make a copy of your site to test it locally and see if I can replicate it?

I have tested your website in a local environment, and it works well. I activated WPML and navigated through various pages in the dashboard as well as on the frontend, and everything functions properly.

To further investigate the issue, we need access to FTP in order to identify the exact error that occurs when the problem arises.

I have examined the issue, and the dashboard becomes unavailable when I attempt to activate the WPML String Translation plugin. Although it indicates a critical error, the debug.log does not show any critical errors, which is unusual. However, I can activate the plugin locally.

Can the PHP memory limit and the WordPress memory limit be increased to 512 MB?

You can find instructions on how to increase the WordPress memory limit at the following link: https://developer.wordpress.org/advanced-administration/wordpress/wp-config/#increasing-memory-allocated-to-php

Thank you! I have finally activated it. After 20 minutes, I can still see that both the backend and frontend are working properly, so I assume everything is okay.

I activated the German language for testing purposes, but you can disable it and add the language/s you need in WPML → Languages.
