Background of the issue:
I am trying to edit content in Elementor in English, like I have always done. However, when I edit Polish content, the Elementor Editor language switches to Polish.

Symptoms:
As an admin, I have English US set in WordPress and I see English language only in WordPress, despite the content language. But once I go to Elementor, it switches to Polish for Polish content.

Questions:
Why does the Elementor Editor language suddenly change to Polish when editing Polish content?
How can I ensure the Elementor Editor remains in English regardless of the content language?

This problem did not exist in previous versions of WPML and Elementor, so there is a bug somewhere.

Hi welcome to WPML support.

Would you please kindly follow the steps below to provide the debug information?

- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > WPML > Support > Debug Information (Link)".
- Copy the Debug Information from there.
- Get back to this chat screen and scroll down.
- Find the "Additional Data" section below. (Check the screenshot below)
- Click on the "Debug Info" item to expand it.
- Paste the debug information into the text area.
- Click the "Send Debug Info" button.

That way I can see the details of your Elementor installation.

One other thing to double check is the option in Users >Profile that you mentioned. The other option there is:

WPML language settings > Editing language > Set admin language as editing language.

See if it is checked, if yes then please uncheck it.

Thanks.

This option is even worse:

WPML language settings > Editing language > Set admin language as editing language.

When I tick this option, then whenever I switch wordpress to Polish content, it is all in Polish and Elementor is in Polish. When I switch to English, everything is in English.

When I switch this option off, all WordPress is in English, despite the language, because my user language is English, but Elementor loads in Polish for Polish content.

However, if I go into Site settings under Elementor, it switches back to English for this one tab... Then in the main elementor editor window I have some blocks named in English and some in Polish. This problem is completely new. Never existed before. So it must be related to the newest version of WPML and Elementor. For some reason it loads translations even if the admin language is specifically set to English.

These are the settings that work on other sites and have on this one so far.

Hi,

Thank you for the details. I installed a clean installation of WPML and Elementor and tested the same scenario and for me it does not happen.

Would you please click this link to login:

And then go to this page:

Change the language from the top to Spanish and try to edit with Elemtnor and you will see that the GUI of elementor is in English.

I checked and the Elementor, Elementor Pro and WPML are all up to date. This shows the issue is not a common one and it is happening on your installation.

To troubleshoot that I'd appreciate it if you could follow the steps below:

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Switch to the default theme such as "TwentyTwenty" by going to "WordPress Dashboard > Appearance > themes".
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except Elementor, WPML multilingual CMS, WPML String Translation
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

If the issue persists, I'd appreciate it if you could give me the URL/User/Pass of your WordPress dashboard after you make sure that you have a backup of your website.
It is absolutely important that you give us a guarantee that you have a backup so if something happens you will have a point of restore.

Make sure you set the next reply as private.

We also will need your permission to possibly copy the website to our server for further investigation.

Thanks.

I know this does not happen on any other sites, only on this one. I have already checked it. The question is why?

Suddenly one day I started to have issues with WPML on a website that it worked on previously. The only change I made was switch off "use directory for default language". Then weird things happened to translations of Elementor and to slugs.

Hi,

Thank you, and we want to know why it happens and the way to know is to follow the steps I mentioned already for checking conflict.

We will be happy to do the test for you if you provide us with the login information in the next reply by setting the next reply as private and giving us permission to copy your website to our server.

Thanks.
