This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client moved their WordPress site from localhost to a staging environment and changed the key of the WPML plugin. They encountered an issue where the ATE Server Communication was unable to authenticate.
Solution:
We requested temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the site to investigate the issue. We reminded the client to back up their site before providing access and informed them about our privacy and security policy, which can be found at https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/. After receiving the credentials and debugging the issue, we determined that the authentication error might be a false positive, especially since there was no record of it after a specific date. We checked several areas, including the WPML API connection and the Automatic Translation Editor settings, and found that everything appeared to be functioning correctly. We advised the client to inform us if they encounter any specific issues with translations sent to our automatic translation service in the future, so we can debug those accordingly.
If the solution provided here does not resolve your issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket with us for further assistance.
