I have used the "Automated Translations" feature to translate all pages, posts and strings on my website into Japanese. After doing this we have realised that we need to create a "Glossary" of terms that we don't want to be translated. These are mainly our Product and Brand names that are featured throughout the website.

I've started to add the required terms to my Glossary, but as far as I can see there isn't an automated way to check the Translations for uses of the term and replace them with the Glossary text.

I've seen this Forum thread that outlines a similar issue, but that was placed a year ago - https://wpml.org/forums/topic/making-use-of-the-glossary-on-our-website/

Is there any new functionality to deal with this problem?

If not, is there a way to complete a "Search & Replace" on the WPML Database Tables to achieve this? Our Glossary has less than 50 terms that we want to keep in English, so manually doing each one like that would be achievable - however, going through each page and post and string is not an option as we have over 1000 pages and posts on this website.

At this stage I'm still testing the WPML system on a staging website, so if there isn't an option to resolve the issue above... is there a way I can set up a new staging site with a fresh WPML installation and set the Glossary Terms up first before importing the translations to avoid being charged again for the automated translation credits?

I can supply access to my staging environment securely upon request.

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

Regarding the article you sent, the information there is still accurate. Our development team is continuously working on improving the glossary feature, but we don't have a specific date for when the updates will be released.

In response to your question about completing a "Search & Replace" on the WPML Database Tables, unfortunately, this feature is unavailable within WPML. There may be third-party plugins available that offer this functionality. Still, it's essential to remember that using such plugins may not be a reliable solution, as you would still need to replace the term in the translation editor manually.

If you want to set up a new staging site with a fresh WPML installation and set up the Glossary Terms before importing translations, you can do so. However, when you import your translations, it's important to note that the import plugin doesn't work with the glossary feature.
