This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are unable to save a translated string in Elementor, even when copying the text exactly from the original. This issue persists across multiple pages.
Solution:
We recommend editing the page using Elementor in the default language. Here's how you can do it:
1. Open the page in Elementor using the default language. You can access the editor via this link: Elementor Editor
2. Replace the problematic string with a different one and update the page.
3. Attempt to update the translation again to see if the issue persists.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, please open a new support ticket. We also highly recommend checking related known issues at WPML Known Issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins.

Hi,

I have an issue with translating one string - even if I copy the same text from the original, with the same formatting, it won't let me save it.
I deleted caches, still doesn't work.
Can you help me how to fix it?
I have it on many pages.
Thank you
Kind Regards
Lena

Hi Lena,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi,

Thanks for the access details. I tried to edit the page using the default language, but Elementor didn't work.

Please edit the page using Elementor in the default language. (hidden link)

Change the problematic string with another one, update the page, and try to update the translation to check if you will face the same issue.

Best regards,
Osama

"Change the problematic string with another one" - it is not a solution for WPML translated manager, right? How could I change it if I need to save the formatting of string?

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I was able to edit the page using Elementor. I just added an empty space and deleted it for the problematic string. After that, I updated the page and its translation, which worked correctly.

Please check if the translation works correctly. (hidden link)

Best regards,
Osama

This is formating of the string - I am not really sure how to change it and don't loose formatting for ability to translate.

And if I just translate the word to polish - still I need to save the translation of the whole website and your translating manager wont let me.

Hi,

1) Please check the post in my previous reply and let me know if the translation editor works correctly.

2) Please share another URL of a problematic string, and I'll check if the same steps will fix it.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi,

If the translation job is in progress, please go to WPML-> Translation Management-> Jobs, cancel the in-progress job, update the page in the default language, and update the translation.

Best regards,
Osama
