Sure, Long, I am sorry I cannot do the test quickly: I should be able to do it in the next days. I've installed the Enfold theme, I've created a test gallery: I need now to install WPML and do the test. Sorry for the delay!
Bye,
A.-

Hi Long. I've been able to reproduce it in the environment you provided.
1) installed Enfold
2) created Portfolio page with an Horizontal Gallery inside.
3) Installed WPML, and configured the following as per your initial instructions: "Go to WPML > Settings > Media Translation section > Enable option "Translate media library texts with posts"
4) Opened the Advanced Editor: none of the Captions/Alt Text/Descriptions of the images in the gallery are visible. Exactly like in my "production" website.

See the attachments...

Hi,

Thank you for the feedback.

On my end, I see the captions are available in the Advanced Translation Editor as well. Please check this screenshot hidden link

I also create a new test portfolio and add some new images and some of your images to the Horizontal Gallery and translate the portfolio but do not see that issue. Can you please check it again?

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi Long. But did you see in the 2nd screenshot of my previous message that the strings were not there? Believe me, I did not remove them from the screenshot 🙂

Did you do anything to make them appear in the Advanced Translation Editor? You just entered in the app and they where there?

Hi,

Thanks for your feedback.

What I've done on the test site:
- Create a new portfolio and upload some new images > translate the portfolio and the captions are available in the ATE.
- Make a small change to the gallery on your portfolio "ITA Caption 4" changed to "ITA Caption 41", save the post and translate the portfolio. All captions are available in the ATE.

So I think it works correctly on the test site.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Let me remind you that the issue is with galleries created before the installation of WPML. This is what we've tried to test with this environment.
So, I see that the captions appeared in the Advanced Translate Editor only after you edited one of the original Italian captions.
I've tried to do the same on my production website, and editing one caption in the gallery did NOT make it appear in the Advanced Translate Editor.

I am just afraid I am not doing exactly the same thing you're doing: can you please try to do the same fix on my prod environment?

I've worked with this one: hidden link

The first image caption is "Una delle meravigliose abitazioni che si incontrano lungo il percorso", you can replace it with "Una delle meravigliose abitazioni lungo il sentiero"

Thanks in advance!

Hi,

Thank you for your feedback.

So we can see it's not a compatibility issue with the Enfold theme and just the specific instance on your staging/live site. I'm discussing this with our 2nd tier support and I will update you here when I have something new to share.

Thanks for your patience.

Hi,

I got some new info from 2nd tier support, let's check this.

The issue happens because some images are not attached to the current post when translating it. Please check this screenshot hidden link
If I attach the image "Una delle meravigliose costruzioni lungo il sentiero 15" to the post "Castello Savoia – Sentiero 15" and translate the post then the image caption is available in the editor as well.

When using a page builder like Enfold gallery IDs are translated automatically and there is nothing to translate in the translation editor. I'm not sure why this issue happens (image attach) on your site but you can try some workarounds below to translate the image captions:

1. Use the gallery shortcode of WordPress as I said before https://wpml.org/forums/topic/captions-of-the-images-in-the-galleries-are-not-visibile-in-the-advanced-editor/#post-12790277

2. Use the plugin WPML Media Translation to translate the image captions.

3. Attach images to the post and translate the post again. Note: the image captions are only available in the translation editor when you translate the post that the images attached. If you translate another post, the captions will not available.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks
