This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed to change the publishing date of a translated article to match the date when the translation was actually published, but found that the date fields were locked and unchangeable in both 'edit' and 'quick edit' modes.
Solution:
We recommended the client to first ensure they are in the backend of the site and have switched to the desired language. They should then navigate to Posts or Pages, hover over the translated page/article, and select 'edit' or 'quick edit'. If using 'edit', the option to change the date should be available on the right sidebar. If a popup appears, they should select 'continue editing'.
If the above steps do not unlock the date fields, we advised going to WPML > Settings and unchecking the 'Copy Publishing Date to Translations' option. After making this change, the client should make a small modification in the default language of the post to enable editing the date for the translated version.

If this solution does not resolve the issue or seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Hello, I translate the article 2 weeks later, when the original article was published.

How can I chage the publishing date of the translated article to the date when the translated article is published?

Thanks, Markus

Hi Markus.

Can you please try this:

While you are in the backend of the site, from the top bar, please switch to the other language where you want to change the date (select the other flag), then go to Posts or Pages, hover your mouse over the translated page/article, and select "edit" or "quick edit" and see if that helps you accomplish what you wanted.

I am not sure if "quick edit" will give you the option to change the published date, but the "Edit" button should take you to the WordPress admin backend edit page, and from there, on the right sidebar, you should be able to change that.

If a popup shows up, select "continue editing" or something similar to that.

Please let me know how things go and if that helped you accomplish what you wanted.

Sure, no worries.

Try it when you have time.

Also, just a note that I won't work over the weekend so I will be back next week.

Have an amazing weekend!

Hello Mihai,

The quick edit does not work and in the edit mode Iam not able to change the date at all.

As you can see in the screenshot. Even the month is locked.

Hi there and thank you for the update!

It seems that this should be dealt with differently than I initially thought.

In WPML > Settings, there's a section where you can disable that function.

After you UNcheck that box ("Copy Publishing Date to Translations"), please make a small change in the default language of that post and then try to see if you can now edit the date for the translated version.
