Background of the issue:
Hi, I'm using Complianz as Cookie Consent Tool, but can not translate the Cookie Banner. The original language is German and I want to translate it to English. In the Complianz Plugin all options in the Backend and the Cookie Consent Banner in the Frontend are displayed in German. I didn't change any language settings there.

Symptoms:
I tried searching for the Strings appearing in the German Consent Banner like 'Zustimmung', but they are not shown. In the String Translation I can see that the Complianz language is shown as English, so German is shown as translation. In String Translation > Domains > Complianz GDPR 1265 Strings were found, but all of them are English and seem to be Admin or Backend text. I can not find any German string.

Questions:
How can I translate the Complianz Cookie Banner from German to English?
Why are the German strings not appearing in the String Translation section?
Is there a specific setting in WPML or Complianz that I need to adjust to see the German strings?

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

Please try the following steps:

1- Go to WPML-> Theme and plugins localization, select your theme/plugin, and scan
2- Go to WPML-> String Translation
3- Scroll down and click on the "Translate texts in admin screens »" link
4- Search for the needed strings
5- Select the strings
6- Click on the "Add to String Translation" button
7- Then click on the "« Return to String Translation" link
8- Translate the strings, clear the cache, and check the front end

Kindly check our guide to learn more about translating texts on the admin texts screen. (https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/)

Best regards,
Osama

Thank you for your fast reply. I followed your steps and found some more Strings in the Complianz plugin. But I was still not able to locate the strings used in the Banner. Actually there is still not a single german word found.

Hi,

I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

As this is a client website, I do not feel comfortable staring FTP and Admin Access. Is there another way to fix this problem? Can you please lead me through the process? Thank again.

I deinstalled the Complianz plugin and installed it again. This fixed the issue, so I can start manually translation the Complianz Cookie banner strings. Thanks!
