On the website bootendart.de, I use different domains per language.
When I set in the WPML settings that bootendart.de should point to the German language, it works for bootendart.de, but not for hidden link. It then points to the source language (NL). If I change the WPML setting to hidden link, it works the other way round: for hidden link points to German, but for bootendart.de it no longer does. It redirects to the Dutch language and domain.
I want both bootendart.de and hidden link to refer to the German language. According to my system administrator, this cannot be determined in server-level settings. Is there a solution for this from WPML? Or possibly by manually creating certain database rules or with an entry in htaccess, for example?

Hi,

Thank you for contacting WPML Support, I will gladly help you.

- The www domain is normally configured on the server side to point to the non-www domain.
- If you check "hidden link" on hidden link, you'll see X-Redirect-By: WordPress (please check the configuration on WP-admin -> Settings -> General, that the correct domain is set for the default language).

I would suggest checking with the system administrator that the DNS configuration is correct and the www domain points to the non-www, also please try clearing the cache of the website(server-side) included and check if the issue persists.

Let me know if you have any questions or need further assistance.

Kind regards,
Marsel

Marsel,

The WordPress and Website URL are both set to hidden link, without www.
I asked my system administrator again, and he doesn't know anything else to test, because everything is set properly.

Do you have any other possible solutions?

Hi Sytse,

I've checked your website further and it seems that all the www domains redirect to the main domain (hidden link).

Please check with your domain/hosting support team that the domains are properly configured (www pointing to non-www domains).

* You can do a quick test by switching to "Different languages in directories" from WP-Admin -> WPML -> Languages, and after checking the other domains if they point to the homepage (www and non-www). You should see the main domain homepage in all the cases.

Let me know how it goes,
Marsel
