Background of the issue:
I am experiencing a serious performance issue on a client website, hidden link, and the data clearly points to WPML as the primary cause. I am using Query Monitor to analyze the queries by WPML components, which include sitepress-multilingual-cms, wpml-string-translation, and woocommerce-multilingual. Despite having WP Rocket cache fully enabled, performance drops drastically when WPML generates heavy queries.

Symptoms:
Extremely high number of queries from WPML components causing server resource spikes in entry processes, CPU usage, and memory usage, even when traffic is low.

Questions:
Why is WPML generating such a high number of repeated term/string queries?
Is this expected behavior, or does it indicate a misconfiguration, a known WPML issue, or a bug?
Can you provide guidance to reduce redundant WPML queries?
How can I optimize string translation load?
Is there a way to cache or bypass expensive multilingual term lookups?
How can I identify which WPML module is responsible for the slowest queries?
