Update: During my monitoring, I was not able to find any error on the automatic translation feature and also didn't see any new errors or warnings in the logs.
For the link 'Aller à la Boutique', I managed to update the page links for all its instances from the string translation section at WP Admin -> WPML -> String Translation.

As for the questions that you asked earlier:
> but why didn't you do it yesterday instead of making me wait and see if I would succeed in doing it ?
- I didn't add the changes on the live website because we don't make changes to live websites unless we have explicit permission from the customer.
It is safer to test the changes to the website's clone instead of making them on the live website. Once confirmed that they work and are safe, we share that information and steps with the customer. And if the customer faces a challenge in adding them we also add those changes directly to the live website.
But in this case, before I could circle back and re-visit this ticket, the backup of the website had been restored.
> will it happen again or not ?
- Since the issue hasn't returned after the WPML plugin has been updated, it is safe to keep on using the translation features now.
Here are key points that we know:
a). There was a temporary outgoing communication issue on the website on (and possibly before) May 22nd. This could affect the connection between the WordPress REST API and WPML's automatic translation service.

b). In the latest release (version 4.6.11) of WPML Multilingual CMS, we included a fix for an issue where completed jobs were stuck in the “Waiting for Translator” status. You started experiencing the issue, while the website was still using version 4.6.10.
> how can I trust ?
> should I take the risk of using your plugin?
- I can totally understand and it is natural that this question comes to your mind.
You lost valuable time and had to add content and changes all over again, including restoring the website's backup. Nothing I say or do can make up or compensate for that.
WPML is considered the industry leader when it comes to multilingual WordPress plugins and is installed on over 1,000,000 websites. This shows the level of trust and confidence that our users have in us.
We're committed to improving your experience and confidence in our product and service, in an effort to earn your trust.
> If I get a refund, can I delete everything and install another plugin instead without worries?
- Your purchase is covered under our 30-day refund policy.
( ref: https://wpml.org/faq/can-i-get-a-refund-for-my-wpml-purchase/ )
You can choose to switch to the other translation plugins ( ref: https://wpml.org/home/comparing-wpml-free-paid-alternatives/ ). But, I'm confident that your confidence will be restored in us and you'll be using WPML, not only for this website but for your future projects too.
You can resume making changes to the website and let me know if you need any further assistance.
