This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed to translate strings for the GDPR Cookie Consent plugin on their bilingual EN/FR website but was unable to find the strings following the documentation provided by another plugin's website.

Solution:
1. We suggested that the client should enable the "Look for strings while pages are rendered" option in WPML > String Translation. After checking this option, they should visit the front end of the page where the string appears and then return to WPML > String Translation to search for the string.

2. If the strings were not found in WPML > String Translation, we advised that they might be added as admin text. We provided a link to our documentation on how to find and translate admin text strings:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/

3. We clarified that there was a confusion with the plugin documentation the client was following. The plugin they are using is from mooveagency, not webtoffee. We provided the correct documentation link for translating the GDPR Cookie Consent plugin by mooveagency:
https://support.mooveagency.com/topic/wpml-compatibility/

Tell us what you are trying to do?

We are a government contractor that must have all portions of our website translate EN/FR. The issue we are having is with GDPR Cookie Consent.

Is there any documentation that you are following?

We tried the following document however, there are no such Strings with domain as listed in the document.

hidden link

Is there a similar example that we can see?

No

What is the link to your site?

Please DM us privately, we will supply the URL.

Can someone please help us as soon as possible, we have a big issue with having the text still in EN for CA_FR.

Thank you in advance.

Hi there.

The proper way to translate strings depends a lot on how they have been implemented inside the theme/plugin.

1. Please try this (this first option might do it, if not, try also the 2nd step below):

Go to WPML > String Translation and at the bottom of the page you will find a checkbox called "Look for strings while pages are rendered". You can enable (check) that and then go in the front end to a page where you have that string showing up and then go back to WPML > String Translation and search for that string and see if it now shows up.

2. If you can't find them inside the WPML > String Translation, they might be added as admin text.

This should be the normal process to find and translate admin text strings:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/

Please let me know how that goes.

Kind regards,

Hi there and welcome back.

By looking at your site's code, it seems that there's a small confusion.

The plugin that you mentioned (plus the URL that you tried the steps from initially) is a different company's plugin (webtoffee).

The plugin that you are using on the site is created by a separate company (mooveagency) and the steps to translate the content from this plugin are mentioned on their documentation site here:

That should help you get things translated.
