Hi, my default site language in WordPress settings shows English US. Even though I am pretty sure that I configured it to be in Swedish. But for some reason it's English now and I can only change it from WPML settings. In WPML however it is Swedish. What do I do to make WordPress see that my default language is Swedish? Thank you in advance! // Said |

Hi, I reset my router to get the new IP as the other one was blocked. It looks like everything is correct here, can you clarify a bit more what isn't correct? Regards, |

Okay, what you just shared with me looks promising. It's exactly how I expect it to look like. However, this is how it looks like on my end. What might the issue be? // Best, Said |

I'm sorry! In case that wasn't clear, the screenshot with svenska as a default language is with the WPML deactivated. Once I activate the plugin, it automatically force changes the default language into English. Yes, it says that Swedish is the default language in the WPML settings, but working with translations shows that English is the base for everything. |

OK, wait a second. Apparently now with WPML I have to change my user interface into the language that I want it to be my site default. It worked for you because your user is using the website in Swedish. I guess it's a bug. Because I would like to login with English interfaces and have the default language site in Swedish. The way it's supposed to be on WordPress. I can work with that until it's hopefully solved. I think no one ever had a problem with that because most people have both languages set to the same language. In my case I feel more comfortable with English interfaces, while my employer's business is primarily in Swedish. Should I report a bug somewhere else? Or would you register that for me? // Said |

Hello I will be helping you now. Once you activate the WPML Plugin, the wordpress "site language" is greyed out and is no longer used. I think this may explain to you the confusion you are having. If you want the UI to be in a different language than the WPML default language (and therefore the site default language) for admin purposes, you do this by setting the preferred language in your user profile. In this way your site can have one default language but you can naviagate wordpress backend in any other language you choose. Does this explain what you are seeing and how the system is working? In short, there is no bug. The wordpress site default language field is not longer active when our plugin is activated. |

Hi Yvette, Thank you so much for the response! I think I get it now. I was used to a way of doing things before installing WPML and now I see how things work with the plugin and I guess I just need to get used to them 🙂 Thank you so much again! Have a nice day! // Said |
