Background of the issue:
I am trying to resolve an issue with the Houzez theme and WPML on my WordPress site. I have updated the Houzez theme to version 4.0, and I am using WPML to translate my site from English to Catalan, German, Spanish, and Swedish. The issue can be seen on this page: hidden link

Symptoms:
After updating the Houzez theme, the site defaults to Swedish in several sections on the front end and in the theme options section on the back end, despite not changing any settings. This issue occurs whenever a plugin or WordPress itself updates, and resetting the theme to its default options in translations and clearing the cache no longer resolves the issue.

Questions:
Do you have any suggestions or a workaround for this issue?
Why does the site default to Swedish after updates?

Welcome to WPML support. I will answer this question before this ticket is assigned to one of my colleagues.

Would you please test if the same issue happens on a minimal installation?

- IMPORTANT STEP! Create a backup of your website. Or better approach will be to test this on a copy/staging version of the website to avoid any disruption of a live website.
- Go to "WordPress Dashboard > Plugins" and deactivate all plugins except WPML and its add-ons.
- Check if you can still recreate the issue.
- If not, re-activate your plugins one by one and check the issue each time to find out the plugin that causes the problem.

Hi there sorry I left this so long as since I sent this ticket the houzez theme has updated in total five times it seems to be resolving the issue to some extent I will close it now having answered you but they are obviously trying to sort some bugs out and I may be back thank you for all your help.
