This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: You are translating your contact page and need to enter a different phone number for each language. However, the phone number does not appear as a string to be translated in the translation workflow, while the email address does. Solution: We recommend searching for the phone numberin the ATE so that it appears for translation. Numbers are hidden by default in ATE
If this solution does not apply to your case, or if it seems outdated, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please do not hesitate to open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.

I'm translating my contact page and need enter a different phone number for each language. When I use the translation workflow, the phone number itself doesn't appear as a string to be translated (the email address does!), so I don't know how to access this string to translate it.
I will require temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) to a test site where the problem has been replicated, if possible. This will enable me to provide better assistance and determine if any configurations need to be modified.
Please note that it is important to have a backup for security purposes and to prevent any potential data loss. You can use the UpdraftPlus plugin (https://wordpress.org/plugins/updraftplus/) to fulfill your backup requirements.
Your upcoming reply will be treated with confidentiality and will only be visible to you and me.
✙ To resolve the issue, I may need your consent to deactivate and reactivate plugins and the theme, as well as make configuration changes on the site if necessary. This emphasizes the significance of having a backup.
Thanks for your response - I didn't see it until now as I (wrongly) assumed that an email would be triggered when the ticket was answered.
I have a couple of questions before providing access to the site:
- The original language of the site and the theme plugin are German. Will this make any difference to your ability to debug it?
- I don't have a separate staging site and wasn't planning to start using one. The second language version is not yet live.
- What would be the implications of giving you access to the main site, but putting it into maintenance mode while you have access to it?
I already use updraft for regular backups, so there shouldn't be an issue on that front.
I am explicitly stating that I DO NOT YET CONSENT TO YOU ACCESSING MY SITE - there's just no technical way of responding on this thread without checking the boxes.
Thanks for your reply. I'll try to answer your questions accordingly.
1. The original language of the site and the theme plugin are German. Will this make any difference to your ability to debug it? No issues for me since I'll be able to use the translator from the browser.
2. I don't have a separate staging site and wasn't planning to start using one. The second language version is not yet live. Ok, no problems for this one.
3. What would be the implications of giving you access to the main site, but putting it into maintenance mode while you have access to it? Yes, I can enable the maintenance mode while I'm on the site. Then, turn it off once I found the solution.
It's good to know that you've backup already. Ok, if you're ready to share the credentials, please use the private reply option that I've enabled.
Thanks - I've created an admin user for you. It's important that the site's original language remain in German as otherwise I'll have issues with the theme.
I may also be AFC from 16:45 - 18:15 CET, but will respond after that if I need to provide any more info.
Thanks for your patience. I've checked, and kindly follow the instructions in this screen recording hidden link that shows you how to translate the phone number. This is the page that I'm working on hidden link . Could you give this a try?
Thank you, this seems to have worked! I was certainly able to follow the path you gave in the video, localize the phone number and save the translation.
