This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing issues with the WPML plugin where the gallery content is not being duplicated correctly when creating translations for new languages. Specifically, the gallery content is not pulled through when using the 'Copy Content from English' feature for Arabic and French translations, although it previously worked for Spanish.

Solution:
We recommend ensuring that the 'duplicate media' checkboxes are checked when translating pages. Instead of using the 'copy' option, it is better to use the 'duplicate' option for media items. This will create new entries in the database for the translated image captions, titles, meta text, and other information, which is necessary for the translations to work correctly.

If you're experiencing this issue, we suggest you:
1. Check the 'duplicate media' checkboxes in the Media attachment section on the edit page screnn.
2. Use the 'duplicate' option when translating pages to ensure all media content is properly duplicated.

If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket with us for further assistance.

This is the text from our editor:

First I selected "WordPress Editor" and the did the Plus sign on Spanish
Then on the new Spanish draft, I used "Copy Content from English"
And this is what it pulled, including the gallery in it

See images Spanish 1 and 2.

Now I'll do the exact same but using the plus sign on Arabic
On the arabic site it doesn't pull the content from gallery

The problem is only with galleries and if the content is not there, it's not possible to alter the caption originally in English. So it's a problem for us.

We tried it in French, also a new language activated yesterday like Arabic. They are not working...

This problem was in the past also with the Spanish language but for some uknown reason it has disappeared. How? How can we fix the other languages?

Thanks.

Thank you for contacting WPML support. While you are waiting for one of my colleagues to take this ticket and work on it, let me provide you with first debugging steps or if I can perhaps help with the issue quickly.

Please make sure that you have duplicated your media to all languages. You can check to see if media is duplicated by giong to your Media tab in the WordPress dashboard and then use the admin language switcher at the top of the dashboard to change languages and view media library in other languages. If the media is not all copied, go to WPML -> Settings -> Media Translation. Make sure the checkboxes are selected to copy the media, and then click Start or Sync to run the sync. Once this is done, check to see if the media is now available for all languages.

Hello, that's not possible. We have around 170k images so we will definitely NOT duplicate them. However we can duplicate the media for posts which we want to translate, that won't be a problem...

Hello,

please note WPML doesn’t duplicate any files on your site. Duplication here means that new entries are created in the database with your translated image captions, titles, meta text, and other information. Entry needs to exist in another language for it to work fine.

What I can suggest is to try and make sure the duplicate media checkbox are checked and use the duplicate option when translating pages, not copy. Image attached.

Let us know how it goes.

Regards,
Drazen

Setting the duplicate media in the post before copying or duplicating fixes the issue.
