Background of the issue:
I am experiencing an issue with the WPML system failing to read XLIFF files. The system logs show errors related to XLIFF server communication. The file links work correctly when entered manually in a browser, and the Expires time for the links was valid at the moment the system attempted to access them. The WPML plugin and all modules are up to date. The issue occurs for multiple jobs (different XLIFF files). The system is running in a standard configuration without customizations that could interfere with file processing.
Symptoms:
Failed to read XLIFF file.
Questions:
Could you please assist me in resolving this issue?
Let me know if additional details are needed....
Thank you for your patience and cooperation. Our team checked for the issue and looks like there's some conflict, caching, security or firewall (either by a plugin or on server) which is causing the issue in your site.
We also tried to check for that by using a custom PHP code but it went fine and returned no issue while communicating with our servers.
Can you please try the following?
1) Take a full backup of your site and database before proceeding. It is highly advised to try these on a dev or staging site first, so your live site isn't compromised.
2) Deactivate all plugins except WPML and String Translation.
3) Switch to a standard theme like 2024 or 2021.
4) Check for the issue if it still happens.
5) Then start activating plugins one by one while keep checking for the issue. This way you 'll be able to pinpoint a conflict when & where it starts creating the problem.
6) If after activating all plugins you see that it still works fine, then switch to your theme and see if that's causing it.
Since it is a live site, we can not perform these operations. It is however, advised to check these on a staging/test site by copying your current site.
Please feel free to share your findings and we'll try our best to further help on the matter.
