I am attempting to make use of the Media translation plugin. I have a site with a large number of audio transcriptions of content. We are offering these audio transcriptions in various languages. In the Media Translation section I can see how to upload a different file for my different languages. However, when I do this, the file I have uploaded does not then appear in the media library. I can make use of the hooks to query for the different Audio files, but I then have to use the audio file's GUID, rather than its file url. The file url always just gives me the original file, not the translation.
HI Andreas,
Thanks. yes - that appears to be the issue I'm facing.
I am attempting to use WPML's media translation plugin, to allow content admins to upload several different language versions of audio transcriptions we provide.
We also use WP Offload Media (full version with bronze license) to store these audio transcriptions on Digital Ocean. We have quite a lot of them.
I am then making use of several of WPML's hooks to query for available translations of each audio file, to load the appropriate one based on user prefs.
With WP Offload media disabled I can easily get all translations and url's to each. With WP Offload Media activated, I get identical url's to the original file only.
it looks like the site in the link you provided doesn't have WPML Media Translations installed. I'd need that to recreate the issue. Some version of WP Offload would be helpful as well.
Thanks!
Hi There, I have installed the premium version of the plugin. I have not been able to recreate the issue, but I think I'll need to hook it up to a bucket and actually offload the test media. Are you able to connect offload media to a test bucket easily?
It looks like you had no issue with using Media Translation on my test site, correct?
I ran a test with a post containing an image and I could not confirm any issue.
I would like to offer to have a closer look at the problem and request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to the website to investigate this issue further.
You can find the required fields below the comment section when you log in to leave the next reply. The information you provide is private, which means only you and I can see and access it.
IMPORTANT
Please be sure to make a backup copy of the website and database before allowing us access.
If you can't see the wp-admin / FTP fields, your post and website credentials are set as PUBLIC. DO NOT publish the data unless you see the required wp-admin / FTP fields.
I may have to install a plugin called "All In One WP Migration" to make a copy of the website where I can investigate the issue further.
However, I would also be very grateful if you could provide a staging site or copy of the website from your server yourself for this purpose.
If you have any questions about creating such a staging site, you can consult your hosting provider. Just take note that WPML should be registered on this site again.
If you are unable to provide such a copy of the site for testing, please let me know on this ticket.
