The META description and title are sometimes shown in the wrong language on product category pages. All other page types are fine. The issue seems to appear randomly and we haven't made any recent modifications on the pages where it appeared.
We translate the product category pages via products -> categories. We are not able to translate them via WCML because the META description, title and below content is not shown there.
When translating the product categories, we always make sure that we open only one tab.
How can we make sure that we always show META information in the correct language on product pages?
Thank you for your response.
The problem is that we can’t predict when the META description and title from Yoast are wrong. It just happens every now and then and we only notice it because of a drop in Google ranking.
We can’t possibly disable all plugins for a month to see if it keeps happening.
The only thing that we can think of, is that it happens when a product in that category is added, removed of moved to another category.
A few example pages that are wrong, are: hidden link hidden link hidden link
The back-end is fine. When we save the category it is also fine. The problem is just that we don't know when it is going wrong and it is impossible to check every META in every language on a regular basis.
We only see this with product category pages. All other pagetypes are fine.
I suggest you create a staging site to test so it will be easier.
Also, to debug this issue further, I would need to check your site settings once, for this I would need temporary access (wp-admin and ftp) to your site.
So could you please provide me with those details, you will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. hidden link
I checked the settings and it looks good to me, I don't see any settings that can create the issue.
Being so, I would ask you to monitor the site and update me when the description is shown wrong, or if there is already an URL with the error, please provide it to me so I can check.
One URL example from every language: hidden link hidden link hidden link
Those are wrong, but many more. Problem is that this issue seems to appear completely random, and we can only verify it by checking all META descriptions in the pagecode.
See the attached screenshot from the page: hidden link The META description and title is in Dutch, while the page is in French.
We have no clue what causes this, but it seems to be some kind of conflict between Yoast and WPML.
We use WP-rocket. I disabled it to test it, but we see the same issue.
Now it just appears in different categories. For example: hidden link We have not made any modifications to this page.
Please help us with this, because we see that these pages stop ranking completely when this changes.
The category meta description in the backend is correct, it's only on the front end the description is showing wrong, I updated the category and it shows now properly.
I also tried to switch the categories multiple times and update and I couldn't reproduce the problem. To help you further with the issue, I would need clear steps to reproduce the problem.
I hope you understand.
Thanks
