Background of the issue:
I am trying to: My landing page content disappears when WPML is activated. The landing page is built with Elementor. I've tried all the solutions: clearing the WPML cache, updating permalinks, and setting the landing page in Elementor to 'not translatable.' When the landing page is in draft mode, the content appears, and everything looks fine. However, once I publish the page, the content disappears, and when I try to edit the published page with Elementor, I get this message: 'You must call the_content function in the current template, in order for Elementor to work on this page.' What’s really strange is that the only way I can see my content once the page is published is by using the Elementor Canvas template, which is independent of the theme. The theme I'm using is Betheme, but I’ve also tried switching themes and still face the same issue.

Symptoms:
Landing page content disappears when WPML is activated. Error message: 'You must call the_content function in the current template, in order for Elementor to work on this page.'

Questions:
Why does my landing page content disappear when WPML is activated?
How can I resolve the error message: 'You must call the_content function in the current template, in order for Elementor to work on this page'?

Hi there,

When WPML is activated, could you let me know what URL language structure you're using? Since the plugin is currently deactivated, I'm unable to determine this. You can find the language structure settings under WPML -> Languages.

If your configuration uses different domains per language, please open the secondary domain in a separate browser tab and navigate to /wp-admin. After logging in, try editing with Elementor to see if the warning still appears.

Please share your results after trying this. Thank you!

Hi,

This is what I use " Different languages in directories ( (hidden link - English, hidden link - French) ) " . Also, the plugin is not deactivated, I have just translate few pages and not my entire website. Regarding the landing pages, there set to not translatable.

Thank you for updating me!

This error 'You must call the_content function in the current template, in order for Elementor to work on this page' is a known Elementor issue and can happen many times even without WPML activated.

What are your results if WPML is deactivated? Are you able to edit the landing page content ?

Yes, once WPML is desactivated, I'm able to edit the landing page. I know the issue and the ast that's it's a common one with Elementor but right know is really related to WPML and the landing page..
