Background of the issue:

Thank you for contacting WPML Support. This issue usually happens when the site default language is other than English and You should be able to assign to correct source language by following the step-by-step instructions from this doc: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/how-to-change-the-source-language-of-strings/
