Hello
I have an issue with removing the old slug from the database, which is saved for a page with /en/ in URL, for multilanguage I use WPML.
After slug changes, WordPress saves the old slug to redirect users to the new slug. Also, I use the plugin Slugs Manager to remove old slugs - I need to get a 404 error on the old URL, but not redirect to the new slug. But this not working for translated pages (with language in URL).
Example:
For original language (without language in URL) I change slug from ‘old-slug’ to ‘new-slug’ and this change is displayed in Slugs Manager. I remove it and by the old URL, I get 404 pages.
But if I do the same for the translated page (not an original language with /en/ in the URL) - I see a change in the plugin, remove it, but get redirected from the old slug to the new one. Is there some option in WPML to disable this?
Best regards
you have been inactive so I converted the chat to the ticket.
1) In order to expedite handling your support requests, can you please share WPML support debug information from your site.
- To give debug information, login to your site and go to WPML → Support. From there click on the “debug information” link at the bottom of the page.
- Once on the “debug information” page, select the entire content of the text box and copy it.
- Now go back to our support forum, find debug information box and paste it.
I haven't any button or textarea to share info from website with you.
Should I paste it here or in another place (private message for example)?
Links - old and new too?
Drazen, can you enable private replies for me (as said support agent in private messages), because I don't want to share my link in public here?
Also I haven't textarea, which displayed on screenshot on your link before reply textarea and under buttons of ticket resolve...
I disabled all plugins, excerpt WPML and activated default theme (2024), but problem left.
I can't remove redirect from old slug to new with WPML plugin. WordPress installations without it works right (removing with "Slugs manager" plugin helps).
Maybe there is some place where WPML stored old slugs too?
P.S. Also I haven't button to share debug information here, so I add this under my message:
1) Please share both URLs so I can check the issue and see what goes wrong.
2) Please make a full backup of your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.
If possible please provide access to the staging website, not production.
Please note, that I might need to do some debugging procedures like enable/disable plugins, switch themes, change the default language of the user account, and/or access your website database to debug the issue furtherly.
I have enabled the private username and password fields in your next reply.
I suggest you create a new user, set it as an administrator and then add those credentials in the private fields mentioned.
You can safely add your information into these fields.
Thanks,
Drazen
