This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is uncertain whether the WPML Translation Management plugin is still necessary for working with XLIFF files, given that it has been labeled a legacy add-on since WPML version 4.5.
Solution:
If you're experiencing similar confusion about the necessity of the WPML Translation Management plugin for handling XLIFF files, we recommend understanding that in the current version of WPML, the "Translation Management" functionality is integrated within the WPML Multilingual CMS. Therefore, the separate add-on is no longer required for exporting and importing XLIFF files.

This solution might be irrelevant if it's outdated or not applicable to your specific case. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If this does not resolve your issue, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum.

Background of the issue:
Our translator wants to work with XLIFF files instead of the WPML Translation Editor. I am trying to determine if the Translation Management Add-on is still necessary for this process. The documentation I am following mentions that the Translation Management tool is a legacy add-on since WPML version 4.5, released in 2021. This documentation was updated in 2023.

Symptoms:
Uncertainty about the necessity of the WPML Translation Management plugin for working with XLIFF files.

Questions:
Do I still need the WPML Translation Management plugin to work with XLIFF files?
Is the Translation Management tool still required despite being a legacy add-on?

Hello,

Yes, this add-on used to be mandatory to export and import XLIFF files.

In the current version of WPML, the "Translation Management" add-on is included in WPML Multilingual CMS which is why the add-on is no longer needed.

Best regards
Andreas

OK, I understand now. I thought it was still installed separately, since I could see the entry from the WPML menu, but indeed, it's not anymore in our plugins list.

Thanks for the explanation.
