Hi there,

When I visit the Spanish and Albanian pages on the live site I can now also see the template parts showing OK and the translations showing as well.

If possible, please visit using an incognito window and let me know your results.

Hey Bobby.
I restored the site twice again. The links to the About me pages in Albanian and Spanish are broken. Not sure why this keeps happening.

Thanks, Rovena

Hi Rovena,

I can see the issue, for example on the Spanish page -- the button is pointing to hidden link

instead of hidden link

Also, the menu items are pointing to the ?page id instead of the page URL.

I will further review and update you

Hi Rovena,

Please see the following screencase where I walk you through the solution plus some workflows.

hidden link

Summary:
The issue was caused by incorrect URLs, which led to 404 errors.

Resolution:
To fix this, I navigated to WPML → Translation Management, re-sent the affected template part (which contains the button URLs) for translation, and simply clicked "Update".

Additional Note:
In WPML → Settings → Translated documents options → Page URL, we have the option set to "Translate". This setting includes the slug in the translation, giving you manual control in the editor. If you'd prefer the slug to be automatically generated from the title (the default behavior), you can switch to "Auto-generate from title".

We initially changed this setting to address earlier issues with template parts. It's unclear if that’s still necessary, but I personally recommend keeping it as is. Having more control over permalinks is generally beneficial, and with automatic translation enabled, the slug should still translate appropriately.

Thanks so much! Hopefully you can get it fixed. I also appreciate your patience. It has been frustrating to spend more time fixing than writing.

Thank you! I am not touching anything for now until the next post.

Do you have any suggestions as to anything I need to clean up from all the plug in sunset?

Thanks,
Rovena

I would suggest deleting the WPML add-on plugins -- the ones that are already deactivated. Always best for performance to remove unused plugins 🙂
