This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client was attempting to export all strings and translate them using PO Edit, then upload them back again. However, after translating all strings and uploading them back, the strings from Gravity Forms were not updated, particularly those with "-placeholder" in their names.

Solution:
We recommended the following steps to ensure the PO file imports correctly:
1. Enable the option 'Also create translations according to the .po file' and select the importing language.
2. Select the domain of strings for what the strings are for.
If the provided solution does not apply or is outdated, or if the issue persists, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. I am trying to:
Export all strings and translate it with PO edit and upload it back again.

Link to a page where the issue can be seen: private backend

I expected to see:
All strings exporting to an PO file.

Instead, I got:
I translated all strings and uploaded it back to the strings and the related languages but the strings from Gravity Forms aren't updated.

Example:

gravity_form-1 | gravity_form-1 | SUCCES
gravity_form-1 | text-5-placeholder | Not translated

So all strings with "-placeholder" need to be adjusted again from withing the admin.
Why is that?
Is that a bug?

Hi Jurgen,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I’m happy to help you with this issue.

I test to import the PO file on my demo site and see it works properly. You should enable the option:
- Also create translations according to the .po file > Select the importing language
- Select what the strings are for: the domain of strings
Please check the attached screenshot.

If it still doesn't work on your end, please try to replicate the issue on the sandbox site. You can login to the admin area directly with this link hidden link
I already setup WPML and Gravity Forms on this site.

Kindly follow the steps below:

- Don’t restore your site there.
- Try to replicate the issue.
- Then let me know the steps to replicate it and share the PO file that you use to import.

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks
