This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
Prevent WPML from showing the translation needs update icon after updating the default language page.
Solution:
The default behavior of WPML is the following:
1- You update the default language page
2- WPML shows you the wheel icon, so you know that you need to update the translation
If you don't want WPML to tell you that this translation needs to be updated, you check the "Minor edit - don't update translation" option before updating the default language page.
This option works as follows:
1- You edit the default language page
2- Check the option
3- Click the update button
4- WPML will know that the translation doesn't need to be updated because you selected the option, so you will see the pencil icon.
The "Minor edit - don't update translation" option needs to be checked each time before updating the default language page because its default status is not to be checked.
To summarize the above, here are the steps you need to follow:
1- Edit the default language page
2- Check the "Minor edit - don't update translation" option
3- Click the update button

Hi, Looking for a simple question I have not found on search: Question is; How I disable to advise of TRANSLATION NEEDED ? I mean the Cirlce Icon instead the pencil one ...
1) I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please backup your database and website ❌
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate the Plugins and the Theme and change configurations on the site. This is also a reason the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
2) Could you please share your Debug information with me?
You can read a detailed explanation about it here. (http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support)
The debug info will give me a lot of information about how your site is configured.
Hi, I just did enter on my editor and the flag option is not present isn't weird this? I did try other pages then the home pages is not there ... but is present on the page you sent me !
If i click the spinning icon which is present it lead me to the default language in Italian, then If I save the page (update) after I return to the English Version I see the pencile...
And the "Minor Editor ..." check box is present and is unchecked... Now From here IF I click the check box and SAVE the wheel Icon return ...
SO I restarted all over until the check box is present in my default Language ...
Now all seems ok, but the Question is:
Will the Icon wheel will come back again anytime I update one of the version page? Because I don't want at all the wheel to come back each page is translated and has different content according with language ...
Hi you are welcome, sorry can you elaborate a bit more when you say "to be checked before what"
Concerning the previous answer can you also elaborate a bit more what we intend on WPML to "update translation" ? To save the page with the modification I have add or it mean something else, I'm still a bit confused. Please write clear and try to go little deeper in your answer, I'm trying to learn what apparently I haven't yet learn since all this time I'm using WPML ... Thank you for your collaboration Mr. Marsal
