Background of the issue:
I am trying to change the EAN number for the Dutch version of a WooCommerce product on my site, hidden link. I am using WPML to manage translations.
Symptoms:
Product EAN numbers cannot be translated to other languages.
Questions:
Why can't I translate the EAN number to other languages using WPML?
Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.
First of all, sorry for the late reply; it was due to a higher workload.
1) Please log in to this hidden link">sandbox site and try to replicate the issue. If it is replicable, please let me know so I can check it and consult our second-tier support team if needed.
Please note that the sandbox site has WPML and WooCommerce installed.
2) Could you please share your Debug information with me?
You can read a detailed explanation about it here. (http://wpml.org/faq/provide-debug-information-faster-support)
The debug info will give me much information about how your site is configured.
1) Please reproduce the issue on the sandbox site so I can check it and consult our second-tier support team if necessary. (hidden link)
2) It's unrelated to the issue, but according to your Debug.info, the WP memory limit needs to be increased. PHP memory is fine, but WordPress uses 40MB as default. The minimum requirement for WPML is 128 MB. (Kindly check this page https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/)
You can increase it by adding the following code in your wp-config.php file right before the /* That's all, stop editing! Happy publishing. */ line:
I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP) Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.
Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.
❌ Please back up your database and website ❌
✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.
✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.
Thanks for the access details. I set the "_alg_ean" custom field to copy the EAN to translations.
The next step is to update the default language products to force the copy. Please update the products in the default language and then check the translated products.
