This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed to know if WPML can handle different base languages for different pages, hide the selected language in the language selection box, and work with the Events Calendar Pro plugin for Mandarin language.
Solution:
1. WPML allows setting different base languages for different pages or posts. You can manage this by setting the language of each page/post individually in the WPML settings.
2. WPML provides an option to hide the currently selected language from the language switcher. This can be configured in the WPML settings under the language switcher options.
3. WPML is compatible with the Events Calendar Pro plugin and supports translating content into Mandarin or any other language. For more details on setting up multilingual events websites with WPML and the Events Calendar, visit the following links:

Background of the issue:
I am working on a site under development and have a few questions about WPML. I want to know if WPML can handle different base languages for different pages, hide the selected language in the language selection box, and work with the Events Calendar Pro plugin for Mandarin language.

Symptoms:

Questions:
Can WPML have different base languages for different pages? For example, some posts will be in English and some in Mandarin, so the translation should be based on different languages depending on the page.
Is it possible to not show the selected language in the language selection box on top? For instance, if English is the language of the page, then the English button should not be visible. If Mandarin is selected, then it should not be visible.

Hi there.

Thank you for your questions regarding WPML. Below are the answers to your queries:

1. Can WPML have different base languages for different pages?

Yes, WPML allows you to set different base languages for different pages or posts. This means you can have some posts in English and others in Mandarin, and the translations will be based on the language of the original content. You can manage this by setting the language of each page/post individually in the WPML settings.

2. Is it possible to not show the selected language in the language selection box on top?

Yes, WPML provides an option to hide the currently selected language from the language switcher. This means if English is the language of the current page, the English button will not be visible in the language switcher. Similarly, if Mandarin is selected, it will not be visible. You can configure this in the WPML settings under the language switcher options.

3. Can WPML work for the Events Calendar Pro plugin for Mandarin language?

Yes, WPML works with the Events Calendar Pro plugin and allows you to translate the content into Mandarin or any other language. WPML is compatible with many popular plugins, including this plugin.
