This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client accidentally deleted the wrong domain registration after migrating their site and is unsure how to restore it. They are also confused about whether they need to register both the primary (.com) and secondary (.nl) domains with WPML.
Solution:
1. Generate a new key for the domain in use at https://wpml.org/account/sites.
2. Go to the WordPress backend > Plugins > Add new > Commercial, and re-register WPML using the new key.
3. Only the main domain needs to be registered. After registering, click "check for updates" to ensure WPML is still showing as registered.
4. If WPML shows as registered after refreshing the page, no further action is required.
5. There is no need to register the secondary .nl domain.

Can I just add the domain again and use the new key? If so, where do I add the key.
Or can I somehow restore with the old key?

Hi there.

No worries as the translations are saved inside the database.

So, yes:

1. you can create a new key for the domain that you are using from here: https://wpml.org/account/sites

2. then, you can go to your site's backend > Plugins > Add new > Commercial > and re-Register WPML from there using the new key that you generated.

my site was migrated today from example.online to example.com (primary domain)
secondary domain remains example.nl.
I am confused whether both domains .com + .nl should be registered, or only .com?
I seem to remember both primary and secondary domain were registered but I am not sure now.

> Plugins > Add new > Commercial >
It says here WPML is registered
should unregister and then re-register with the new key?

The main domain needs to be registered.

Then, on that page, click "check for updates".

If WPML is still showing as registered after the page refreshes, then you don't have to do anything else as WPML is already registered 🙂

still showing as registered after updating/refreshing.
So i guess the registration is ok? Even though the new key is different to the one used?
And I don't need to register the .nl domain, right?

Yes, then the registration is ok unless there's no current site or server caching.

But no matter what, WPML should still work fine, and if it is a cache-related issue when the cache is cleared automatically, you will just see the option to register WPML.

And no, you don't need to register WPML on the nl domain.
