Background of the issue:
I am trying to ensure that the search page on my WordPress site, which uses WPML for translation, displays in the correct language. The main language is German, and I have translated the search results page into English. When I search in German, everything works fine, but when I search in English, the results are correct, but the page remains in German. Additionally, there is an issue with images in the footer not appearing on the search results page. This is the search page in English: hidden link (German: hidden link). This is how a search in English will be published: hidden link.

Symptoms:
The search results page does not change to English when searching in English; it remains in German. Additionally, images in the footer do not appear on the search results page.

Questions:
Why does the search results page remain in German when searching in English?
Why do the images in the footer not appear on the search results page?

Hello,

Welcome to the WPML support forum. Before passing this thread to my colleague, I would like to share some suggestions and possible solutions for the issues you mentioned.

We hope you are following this documentation:
https://wpml.org/documentation/theme-compatibility/creating-multilingual-sites-using-the7-theme-and-wpml/

Please visit the WPML>Languages page and make sure the following options are enabled.

a) Make themes work multilingual>>Adjust IDs for multilingual functionality

b) Language filtering for AJAX operations>>Store a language cookie to support language filtering for AJAX

Also, increase *WP Memory Limit* to *256*(the minimum required memory limit for WPML is *128*). Please check the following links for more details

https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

https://wordpress.org/support/article/editing-wp-config-php/#increasing-memory-allocated-to-php
