Background of the issue:
My site has multiple languages by using different subdomains to toggle between languages. For example, hidden link is the English version, jp.deltapath.com is the Japanese version. Recently, when sharing a URL on LinkedIn, while pasting the URL hidden link, the preview tab in LinkedIn would change to tw.deltapath.com from hidden link. However, Facebook won’t do that. I’m unsure if there is something to do with WPML that is triggering some redirect? Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link

Symptoms:
When sharing this page on LinkedIn, I expect the URL to stay the same. Instead, I got: hidden link

Questions:
Why does the LinkedIn URL preview change to a translated site?
Is there something in WPML that is triggering a redirect?

Hello There,
Thanks for contacting WPML Support.

I understand the issue you're having. Problems like this can occur if the Open Graph meta tags aren't set up correctly. Specifically, the Open Graph URL needs to be configured properly to ensure the preview appears correctly when sharing the links.

I opened the page you shared and inspected the link. I noticed that the Open Graph URL for that post is configured correctly. Please check the attached screenshot.

With that configuration, the URL should be pointed to the correct page. To ensure the OG URL is attached correctly, I also used the LinkedIn Post Inspector hidden link">tool. The tool also shows that the Fetched and Canonical URLs are correct. It did not display any link from the Taiwanese version of your site.

Finally, to verify if the issue occurs while sharing the link, I tried sharing the link on LinkedIn, and in the preview, the correct link appears. Please check this screenshot: hidden link

Therefore, I can confirm that the preview link is showing correctly now. The issue you encountered could have been a temporary problem caused by site caching. Please clear the caches from your site and browser and then try again. Since you're using Object caching, make sure to clear the object caches as well before testing.

Additionally, if you're using the Yoast SEO plugin, it's recommended to also use the WPML SEO plugin to ensure the SEO settings are correctly applied in each language. You can refer to this guide for more details. Since it is not currently activated on your site, please make sure to activate the plugin before continuing the translation process.

Let me know the update. I will be happy to help if you need further assistance in this matter.

Best regards,
Prosenjit
