This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
You are working on a site and notice that some translated content is not visible in the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) of WPML, appearing as empty boxes, although it is visible in the Classic Translation Editor (CTE).
Solution:
If you switch to the ATE, translations done previously in the CTE will not appear in the ATE. These translations will still display correctly on the front-end of your site. To reuse existing translations, you can manually copy them from the front-end or use the Translate automatically option within the ATE to quickly re-translate the content. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Background of the issue:
I am working on a site under development and trying to ensure that all translated content is visible in the Advanced Translation Editor of WPML.

Symptoms:
Some of the translated content is suddenly not showing in the Advanced Translation Editor, appearing as empty boxes. However, the content is visible in the Classic Translation Editor.

Questions:
Why is the translated content not showing in the Advanced Translation Editor?
How can I fix the issue of empty boxes appearing in the Advanced Translation Editor?

Thank you for contacting WPML support.

If you switch to the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE), translations previously completed using the Classic Translation Editor (CTE) will not appear in the ATE. However, those translations will still be displayed correctly on the front-end of your site.

To reuse existing translations, you can either copy them from the front-end manually or use the Translate automatically option within the ATE to re-translate the content quickly.

We did not use the Classic Translation Editor (CTE); we translated only using the Advanced Translation Editor (ATE). However, the translated content is suddenly not showing in ATE, even though it appears correctly on the front end. How can we fix this?

Also, please let us know where the content data from the Classic Translation Editor (CTE) and Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) is stored — on your server or in our database. please explain.

Thank you for your feedback.

You have mentioned the following:

However, the content is visible in the Classic Translation Editor.

That makes me think that you have done some translations in the Classic Translation Editor.

If not, I need more details on what exactly happened. Was the page fully translated? Have you made any changes before this happened? How was the page translated? Can you share the link to the page?

Also, please let us know where the content data from the Classic Translation Editor (CTE) and Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) is stored — on your server or in our database. please explain.

All translations are stored in your WordPress site’s database.

However, the Classic Translation Editor (CTE) and Advanced Translation Editor (ATE) handle translations differently:
• CTE stores all translations directly in your site’s database only.
• ATE stores the translations in the WPML server while you’re working on them, and once the translation is complete, it is saved to your site’s database as well.
