This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client reported that when creating a post, the category 'News' was not appearing in the URL as expected. Instead of the URL being formatted as

https://www.restaurantespuertomarina.com/news/post-title

, it was showing up as

https://www.restaurantespuertomarina.com/post-title

. This issue persisted even after creating a new category and deactivating WPML. The client also noted that there were categories in a mix of languages and that deleting content did not resolve the issue.

Solution:
We asked the client to confirm if the issue with the category not appearing in the URL persists when WPML is temporarily disabled. This is to determine if the problem is related to WPML or if it's a general issue with the website's permalink settings.

If you're experiencing a similar issue, we recommend checking if the problem occurs with WPML deactivated to isolate the cause.
It could be a third-party plugin that removes the category from the URL. For example, RankMath SEO can do this.
If the issue is related to WPML, please ensure that you have the correct URL format set in WPML's language URL format settings. Additionally, verify that your permalink settings are configured correctly.

Please note that the solution provided here might be outdated or not applicable to your case.

If the issue persists, we highly recommend checking the related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If you still need assistance, please open a new support ticket with us.

Do I correctly understand that if you temporarily disable WPML the category appear in the URL? Or the issue is related to one language?

Morning,
I deactivated WPML.
There were several categories in a mix of languages, English, Spanish and French.
I removed the French side a long time ago but it seems as it is still there.

Under Site Languages I have English as the default and Spanish as the secondary.
As you can see from the screenshot. I clicked the Delete content circle and nothing happens!.

When you create a post it should be hidden link"which should be News")/(title of the new post

The url is not being created properly for the blog section. It should be the site url/category/post title

For example her is one of my other websites with WPML:
hidden link Please not the default language is Spanish.
hidden link

So the category "News" is not showing in any on the languages when I create a blog.

Please see attached screenshot! I created a test post with the name Test, select the category News and when the draft is saved it is not showing the category:
hidden link
It should be:
hidden link

In the blog the latest post Test, when you click the category NEWS you get this:

hidden link

Shouldn't it be hidden link

Thank you for your feedback. What do I need to check if the category appears in the URL if WPML is temporarily disabled? I suspect the problem is not related to WPML.

It could be a third-party plugin that removes the category from the URL. For example, RankMath SEO can do this.

You can navigate to the Rank Math -> general settings screen and check. There is the Strip Category Base option.

I hope this helps.
