[Resolved] Split: when starting translation we're taken first to the Translation Queue
This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem: The client is experiencing issues where they are initially taken to the Translation Queue instead of directly to the translation editor when starting a new translation for products. Additionally, they encounter errors such as 'WPML couldn't translate this page' and 'The website is under heavy load' when attempting to translate certain templates. Solution: We have identified that the issue occurs specifically with a certain template and not with other pages or posts. The problem persists even when exporting and importing this template into a different custom post type and attempting to translate it. Since the root cause is unclear, we have escalated the matter to our second-tier support for further investigation. We will provide updates as soon as we have more information.
If this solution does not resolve your issue, or if it seems outdated or irrelevant to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. Should you need further assistance, please open a new support ticket.
This is the technical support forum for WPML - the multilingual WordPress plugin.
Everyone can read, but only WPML clients can post here. WPML team is replying on the forum 6 days per week, 22 hours per day.
We tried the steps you suggested when translating another product but we encountered errors similar to the errata you mentioned.
After changing the DB collation, it seems to have been fixed.
However, we noticed that when starting a new translation for products, we're taken first to the Translation Queue. Without any action, if we edit the same product translation, we're then taken to the translation editor.
We tried the solution mentioned here https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translation-queue/ but that didn't give any results.
Is there a way to skip going to the queue first and go straight to the editor?
Thank you for escalating and troubleshooting this bug.
Do you have any updates from the 2nd tier team?
We have planned to work on the products' posts (updating the design in Elementor and proceeding with translation) as part of the preparation to launch the site, and we'd like to plan accordingly so that there's no risk of our work or yours being affected.
It will take a few days before we check and debug it. I have taken a copy of your website and shared it with the 2nd tier, so you can work on your staging site, just make sure you have backup just in case.
Thank you for getting back.
I checked the file and perhaps you changed the display_errors value to 0.
I'm not sure how it works for you but when we tested from multiple devices and browsers we got the following behavior:
1. When clicking to add a translation for a product we get the 'WPML couldn't translate this page" error hidden link. Nothing happens if we click 'Try again'
2. If after that we click on the plus icon for the same post and language translation, the editor opens but never loads hidden link
3. Then when at the same time a colleague tried to do the same action she got 'The website is under heavy load' error from WPML hidden link
The issue is getting worse and it doesn't seem like normal behavior.
the issue should be fixed, and it worked fine before. The issue you are experiencing and see now is related to another thing, and that is that we currently have a problem with ATE server on our side.
We are working on fixing it, and it should be fixed in a few hours.
Can you please try again later, and it should work fine. If not, let me know and I can re-check.
