Background of the issue:
Translate some strings that are displaying on the Footer. No matter what I try, nothing works as expected. I always receive the "This action does not apply to any of the selected translation jobs" and also "the translator could not be assigned to the job".
I tried everything what's suggested on the forums and nothing works.

It's a multisite.

Hi,

Thanks for contacting WPML forums support. I'll be glad to help you today.

Would you please elaborate more on the issue to help me understand it better?

It would be very helpful if you could share screenshots or a screen-recorded video while reproducing the issue.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi,

Thanks for your asistance!

The thing is there's no way that the String Translation Plugin works properly. Everytime when I try to get the Translation done in Translations, I press the "Take and Translate" button and receive the notification that "The translator could not be assigned to the job".

Also, when I try to assign the Translator on "Jobs", I also receive the notification "The translator could not be assigned to the job". And, also in "Jobs", when I try to get translations via Bulk Actions, I receive the notification that "This action does not apply to any of the selected translation jobs".

I'm adding you a screenshot so you can see the notification that I'm getting on console. The thing is, we already enabled WordPress REST API also. I also have made all the steps that you usually suggest to try on the Troubleshooting page.

Let me know what can we try, this is important.

Hi,

Thanks for your reply. I would need to look closely at your site, so I would need to request temporary access (WP-Admin and FTP)
Preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated.

Your answer will be private, meaning only you and I can access it.

❌ Please backup your database and website ❌

✙ I need your permission to deactivate and reactivate the plugins and themes and change site configurations. This is also why the backup is critical.

✙ I also need your permission to take a local copy of your site to debug the issue without affecting your live site.

Best regards,
Osama

Hi, Osama, thank you.

Unfortunately, I do not have permissions to give you access to the site due to security measures of the company. We will have to do some workaround or something where I will have to do the tests.

I'm sorry, and I know this makes everything a little bit more difficult but I cannot do anything.

I could suggest to do some screensharing session or something, but I'm afraid you don't offer such a service, right?

Best,

Hi,

1) Please ensure that the translator has the correct language pairs.

Also, please check whether this issue affects all translation jobs or only strings jobs.

2) Following these steps, Please check if the issue persists in a minimal environment.

1- Deactivate all the plugins except WPML CMS and String Translation.
2- Switch to a WordPress default theme like Twenty Twenty-one.

If the issue is gone, activate them one by one to see which one is causing an interaction issue.

❌ Please backup your database before performing the above test ❌

Best regards,
Osama
