I have run the same test as you and can confirm the same results. My guess is that the original live site is having the issue because the translation is stored in translation memory. I'm checking with second tier to see if that's something we can confirm and if so, resolve. I'll update as soon as I have more info.

Hi Lauren, did you get a reply from the second tier team?

I just did, and the workaround suggested resolved the issue. I tested hidden link

What we found is that it seems not to be a general bug on the site, as we can see the format issue on some product translations and not on others.

For example, I see the issue on the WordPress Editor and therefore also on the Frontend: for the product “Camping Turiscampo”.

What I did to resolve it was to delete the content from the translated product inside the WordPress Editor (not Elementor, and not the WPML translation editor) and then apply the translation again.

I used the admin language switcher at the top of the dashboard to switch from Dutch to English, which allowed me to edit the page using the native WordPress. There is also a toggle switch that you can use to switch between WPML editor and WordPress editor, and that toggle switch is located in the languages box when you edit the page in the original language.

ONce I deleted the content in the WordPress editor, I then went back to the Dutch page and clicked the pencil icon next to English. This opened the translation using the WPML editor and all the translations were still there. I simply resaved the translation and now the format looks correct. I tested this only on this one product on the product description.

Please let me know if you have the same results after testing.

Hi Laura,

As you said it's not happening on all products, that is because it only happens on new translations.

To show you, I just create another new product on the live site:
hidden link

I added 3 new paragraph, so the translation is not pulled from the translation memory. I translated the text to German, and the paragraph in German are stitched together:

Sorry, I don't need a workaround, I just need WPML to work as it suppose to work.

We need to test with only Elementor, Elementor PRO, ACF, and WPML plugins active. It is best to test this on a staging site, but I don't believe the issue is happening on staging anymore. Can you create a copy of the site that is still experiencing the issue and then test with only the above plugins active? Create a new product and let's see if the same issue is happening with these settings.

Hi Lauren.

Ok will perform a quick test on the live site during off-hours. Just to check that I test exactly what you want me to do:
- I disable all plugins except Elementor, Elementor Pro, ACF and WPML
- Create a new product
- Add a new description with multiple paragraphs
- Run translation
- Check if paragraphs are still attached to eachother.

I wanted to test it with plugins disabled, but we are now having the issue that the paragraph are not even recognized as separate lines. This is both with plugins enabled and disabled.

For example I created this test product, with 3 separate lines in the description.

But the in the translation shows only one line:

Hey there,

Lauren is unavailable today so I'll be temporarily taking this ticket over.

I checked it with our 2nd tier team and they asked us to escalate this ticket for further debugging.

In order for us to take a closer look at this issue, I'd like your help creating a package of your website and sending it to us.

I tried using the plugin Duplicator(hidden link) to create a full copy of your website but I'm getting a fatal error when I try to activate this plugin.

I can see that you have a backup plugin, do you have a package/zipped copy of the site that you can share with us?

I'm enabling the proper field for your to share this copy, you'll see it on your next response.

Alternatively, you may use any file sharing service that you prefer and share the link in the ticket(your next response is being marked as private, only you and I have access to it).

Thank you, please let me know.

Hi, are you able to use the backup file available for download here:
hidden link
It runs a daily backup, so you can use the files of yesterdays backup.

I was able to make a copy of your site using the backup from your live site. You can access it here using your live site credentials: hidden link

I did not disable any plugins or make any changes. I created a new product named WPML test and copied the content from your latest product. The translation editor shows the content on separate lines and the frontend looks correct too:

Would it be possible to use your back up to restore your live site and see if that fixes the issue?

Hi Lauren, we already discovered that the problems remain on the live site and not on a staging site. Even with the exact same copy.

I think I have found the issue on the live site. When the original issue was published, it was the opposite, that the content was showing on separate lines when it should have been in a paragraph, so we adjusted some settings in the ATE to ignore those line breaks. I have now reverted the settings back and removed the changes since the issue changed to the opposite. I just added a test product and the content is showing on different lines - check out the product named WPML Test on your live site (I set it as a draft product).

Please test and let me know if it works as expected after changing the settings in your ATE account.

Hi Lauren,

I think it's working again as expected, but let me do some more testing in the next two days before closing the ticket. Can I conclude that you changed a setting in my ATE account at the beginning of this ticket, and now reverted this change, so basically nothing is changed while it looks to be fixed?

Yes, the setting I changed originall resolved the issue with the content showing on separate lines. Then it seems that same change caused the content to not show separate lines after we updated some content in the page, so I removed it and now it seems to work as expected. Let me know if you find any other pages/products where the issue is still happening and I'll be happy to take another look.
