Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate the event archive for the Event Calendar plugin on my site hidden link. I was following the documentation and reviewing options on https://wpml.org/forums/topic/translate-event-archive-event-calendar-plugin/ when my chat was closed.

Symptoms:
My chat was closed while I was reviewing the options and writing a response.

Questions:
How can I translate the event archive for the Event Calendar plugin using WPML?

Yes, you could say I was following instructions.
You can see the translations if you click on the yellow little "Today" button. But the translations are not visible on the main archive page.
Thanks for the list of similar problems, I was able to fix the problem with the URL when clicking on the little yellow button, but it looks a bit different now.
I wish the URL wouldn't translate, but it does.

Hi there,

I have reviewed your previous chat with Itamar and can see that the issue was related to this errata documentation:

https://wpml.org/errata/the-events-calendar-incorrect-link-format-with-custom-slug-translations/

I am glad to hear you were able to resolve this by following the steps in the errata.

Are you still experiencing any issues with this plugin and WPML? If yes, please share with me some additional details.

Good afternoon. Yes, the problem remains. Even two 🙂
1. Here is a link to the Events page in Estonian (hidden link) where the search bar, the search button and the filters at the bottom: "Today" and "Upcoming" are not translated. But if we click on the "Today" button, we can see the translations.
2. If you click on the "Today" button, the URL is translated and looks like this in Estonian (hidden link). This is not what I would like 🙂

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to test the issue.
(preferably to a test site where the problem has been replicated if possible)

**Before we proceed It is necessary to take FULL BACKUP of your database and your website. Providing us with access, you agree that a backup has been taken **

I often use the Duplicator plugin for this purpose: http://wordpress.org/plugins/duplicator/
You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply.
The information you enter is private which means only you and I have access to it.

NOTE: If access to the live site is not possible and the staging site does not exist please provide me with a duplicator package created with the duplicator plugin.

Thank you,
Bobby

Thank you for the access details!

Please visit the page using an incognito window and let me know your results.

(Refresh the page a few times as well as a test). I was able to register a few more strings and verified that all strings for "Today" are 100% translated and it looks like it is working OK for me now.

Regarding issue #2 with the URL, what would you like the URL to display?

Hello, I may have misspoken, but the problem is not solved. I am attaching screenshots.
This is the Estonian version of the page, I want to translate the highlighted elements.

When I click on the “Today” button, I see the translated items (except one highlighted one) as it should be, but the URL changes, I would like to see et/events/List.

I would like to see the translated items when I go to et/events/ or ru/events. I mean the main “Events” page without applying filters or search.

Hi there,

Regarding the URL link:

In the default language this is the URL:

hidden link

-------------------

The translation in ET for this URL is:

hidden link

When clicking on the Today button I get this URL:

hidden link

To resolve we have to make sure the string translation is removed for the slug.

I have removed it and replaced it with 'events', and did the same thing for 'list' which seems to resolve the issue with the URL.

P.S The code from the errata does not seem to be used at the moment but if you are not planning on translating the URL you can leave it as is.

Please review and verify with me that the URL is working OK now.

Good afternoon, we have moved the site to live, the event page displays almost as it should.
The search field is translated, the buttons too.
There are a few problems.
1. The word “Events” itself is not translated, I understand because it affects the slug. Is there any way to fix this?
2. There is no way to translate the footer. We use a different footer for each language. It is customized in the page editor, in the admin panel. But since the event page does not have a page in the admin panel, it is not possible to select the footer there.
Here is a new link to the site in live. And a link to the development site:
hidden link - live
hidden link - development

Hi there,

I have translated all the strings that are possible without affecting the URL, unfortunately that way ONLY the button can be translated.

Another option is to try using this workaround again:
https://wpml.org/errata/the-events-calendar-incorrect-link-format-with-custom-slug-translations/

and then translating the slug.

However, since you are not using English as your default language you might want to look into using the Estonian events calendar version.

See this page:

Regarding the footer, the way I would recommend would be to use an Elementor template which then you can translate

https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/#translating-elementor-templates

https://wpml.org/documentation/plugins-compatibility/elementor/creating-different-elementor-templates-per-language-with-wpml/
