This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client needed to translate the second widget on their website and was unsure how to locate the string for translation using WPML.
Solution:
We recommended the following steps:
1. Enable the 'Look for strings while pages are rendered' option in WPML > String Translation. Then, visit the front end of the page where the widget appears, and return to WPML > String Translation to search for the string.
2. If the string is not found, it might be categorized as admin text. The normal process for finding and translating admin text strings can be found here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/
3. For content inside widgets, different methods of translation are available. More information can be found here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-widgets/ and here: https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-widgets/#using-different-widgets-for-different-languages

Hi there.

The proper way to translate strings depends greatly on how they have been implemented inside the theme/plugin or how the content was initially created.

Let's try the following methods and see if they help you find the strings.

Method 1:

Go to WPML > String Translation and at the bottom of the page you will find a checkbox called "Look for strings while pages are rendered". You can enable (check) that and then go to the front end of a page where you have that string showing up. Then, go back to WPML > String Translation, search for that string, and see if it now shows up.

Method 2: They might be added as admin text if you can't find them inside the WPML > String Translation.

This should be the normal process to find and translate admin text strings:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/string-translation/finding-strings-that-dont-appear-on-the-string-translation-page/

Also, because the content sits inside a widget, there are other methods that you can use to translate these types of content, too, so please take a look here:

https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-widgets/

If they are created from inside the Widgets area, I usually prefer to create a different widget per language, as explained here:
https://wpml.org/documentation/getting-started-guide/translating-widgets/#using-different-widgets-for-different-languages

Please let me know how that goes.

Kind regards,
Mihai Apetrei

No worries, I will help you with more specific information after I have access to the site.

I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. You will find the needed fields for this below the comment area when you log in to leave your next reply. The information you will enter is private which means only you and I can see and have access to it.

Our Debugging Procedures

I will be checking various settings in the backend to see if the issue can be resolved. Although I won't be making changes that affect the live site, it is still good practice to backup the site before providing us access. In the event that we do need to debug the site further, I will duplicate the site and work in a separate, local development environment to avoid affecting the live site.

Privacy and Security Policy

We have strict policies regarding privacy and access to your information. Please see:
https://wpml.org/purchase/support-policy/privacy-and-security-when-providing-debug-information-for-support/

**IMPORTANT**

- Please make a backup of the site files and database before providing us access.

- If you do not see the wp-admin/FTP fields this means your post & website login details will be made PUBLIC. DO NOT post your website details unless you see the required wp-admin/FTP fields. If you do not, please ask me to enable the private box.

The private box looks like this: hidden link

I will be waiting for your response.

PS: This is just a note that I won't work over the weekend. I will get back to work on Monday. (I'm mentioning this in case a reply comes this weekend.)

Hi and thank you for the credentials.

I can confirm that I was able to log in successfully.

I am still spending more time on this and I will get back to you as soon as I have more feedback.

I will leave the ticket assigned to myself for the moment.

Kind regards,
Mihai

Thank you for your amazing patience.

Go here:
hidden link

Then click the "pencil" edit icon (like in my screenshot) and add the EN content there (it just has "test" for now because I tested it first).

As you can see, at the moment, in EN, it shows just test in that footer area.

That should help you accomplish what you wanted 🙂
