We've installed the WPML plugin on the website (base language is EN) and the translated pages are loading an older version of the theme with template parts no longer in use.

For example this page : hidden link
When translated : hidden link
Loads a different template (older) template.

When I try to edit the template for the translated page (like I would for a page with the wrong template), the theme editor loads the right one.

I have tried changing the URLs settings to pass the language as a parameter but it didn't help.

Thank you for contacting WPML support. While you are waiting for one of my colleagues to take this ticket and work on it, let me provide you with first debugging steps or if I can perhaps help with the issue quickly.

Please try to make a small change in the original content (like adding a small space at the end of a text) and update the translation to save it. If it's something temporary, that should solve it.

Hello Lucas,
Thank you for your reply. I tried to apply the quick fix (updated the linked page in its main language then updated the translation) but unfortunately this didn't solve the problem.

Hi there,

Thank you for contacting WPML support, I'd be happy to help you with this issue.

Please follow some troubleshooting steps below and let me know how it goes:

1. Increase WP memory limit: Please check this link for more details
https://wpml.org/home/minimum-requirements/

2. Go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting > Click on some buttons:
- Clear the cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Set language information
- Fix terms count
- Fix post type assignment for translations
❌ IMPORTANT: Please backup your database and website before proceeding ❌

If it does not help, I would like to request temporary access (wp-admin and FTP) to your site to take a better look at the issue. It would be better to have a testing site where the issue is replicated. Your next reply is set to private to share the info.
✙ I would need your permission to de-activate and re-activate Plugins and the Theme to change configurations on the site if needed. This is also a reason the backup is critical.

Look forward to your reply.
Thanks

Hi,

The shared account isn't correct, can you please recheck this?
Regarding troubleshooting buttons, they help to correct translation issues on your site if they are available like: the count of term (taxonomy) isn't correct, a post is not set to a language, a ghost translation ... If you have a backup of your site you can run buttons or on the staging site and see if it helps.

Refer documentation https://wpml.org/documentation/support/wpml-troubleshooting-options/

Looking forward to your reply.
Thanks

I recreated (and tested) the user with the password I sent yesterday, you can login now.
Please excuse me for the mistake.

Thank you for the clarification.
I performed all 4 steps you mentioned with WPML troubleshooting tools, unfortunately the translated pages still load the old template.

Regards,
Bruno

Hi Long,
I have resolved this issue using a simple workaround: I duplicated the WP child theme with the native WP tool and this resolved the problem - I think the old template parts in the database weren't being referenced by the new duplicated theme anymore.
Thanks for your assistance!
Kind regards,
Bruno
