This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.
Problem:
The client reported that a product, fully translated into German, was not displaying on the German site and instead was giving a 404 error. Despite updating WPML plugins, the issue persisted. The client also noted that other German products were displaying correctly, which suggested that it might not be a template or plugin issue.
Solution:
We first ensured that the client was using the latest versions of WordPress and WPML. We then requested temporary admin access to the site to investigate further. Upon access, we noticed several outdated plugins that needed updating, which could affect translations, such as WooCommerce and Elementor. After updating these plugins, we checked the specific product and found it was still in 'draft' status in the German version. We were able to change the status to 'published' successfully, resolving the issue.
If you're experiencing similar issues, we recommend ensuring that all your themes and plugins are up to date. Also, check the status of the translated products to ensure they are not set to 'draft'. If these steps do not resolve the issue, it might be due to a different cause or the information might be outdated. We highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If the problem persists, please open a new support ticket.
