Background of the issue:
I have my navigation menu which is a site block, not a site menu. It is a normal ul with 7 li's inside of it. One of the li's functions as a dropdown with 3 subitems. I used automatically translate on this menu. When reviewing it looks fine so I accepted the translation.

Symptoms:
On the website itself, random buttons linking to other pages are displayed alongside the original menu and its whole layout is ripped apart.

Questions:
How can I fix the layout issue of my navigation menu after using WPML's automatic translation?
Why are random buttons linking to other pages displayed alongside my original menu?

I was stupid and didn't notice a custom script that was written when the site was first made. It did overwrite the translated menu.
