Hi there!

This is Paola and I will continue with the ticket as Alejandro is on holiday.

I will try to reproduce the problem on a clean site and send it to the ATE team.

It seems an issue related to Deepl.

Hi there!

Sorry for the delay.

I have done a test and it is working properly as you can see on the screenshot.

Could you please create a test page on your site so I see I can reproduce the problem?

Hi Paola

The problem is that it does not happen in every instance/segment where the punctuation is required; it happens randomly.

I normally have to go through each segment and look for the error.

Can I give you all the text that was present in the last Post we translated, and if you translate it and go through the ATE on the translated side, I am pretty confident you will see it appear. Keep in mind that some sentences translate correctly, and some with errors. The 4-page image that I last provided to Alejandro listed about 60% of the total segments with errors (I only started collecting them after I had already corrected a bunch of them).

We are doing some database testing and monitoring and need to avoid clouding any data by accessing the backend.

If you are able to add this to your editor and see if it shows up the error, then this is all the text from the last post:

Discovering Your Perfect Stay: The Best Hotels in Monterosso al Mare
Monterosso al Mare is the largest and most accessible of the Cinque Terre villages, and from an accommodation perspective, it offers travelers a selection of the best hotels in Cinque Terre.
Whether your priority is breathtaking views, direct beach access, or the quaint allure of the historic center, making Monterosso your base won’t disappoint.
Reuse image: Monterosso new town
If you’re looking for the top hotels in Monterosso, then look no further than this (non-sponsored) list of what we rank as the best hotels in Monterosso. These hotels don't just offer excellent facilities; they provide an experience to complement the charm of this ancient village.
Let's explore eight exceptional Monterosso al Mare hotels that stand out for their location, amenities, and overall guest experience.

1. Hotel Porto Roca: The Cliffside Sanctuary with Grand Views

Perched majestically on a cliff face overlooking Monterosso, Hotel Porto Roca is more than just one of the Monterosso hotels; it's an iconic experience in itself.
If your ideal Cinque Terre escape involves dramatic, sweeping panoramas of the Ligurian Sea and a sense of exclusive tranquility, this is where you'll find it.
Location and The Grand Perspective
The location of Hotel Porto Roca is simply unparalleled. Its elevated position, infinity swimming pool, and classic luxury rooms make this one of the best hotels in Monterosso.
The tranquility of the location far outweighs the slight inconvenience of a short, scenic walk to the village's heart.
For hikers, this hotel is also right along the SVA hiking path (blue trail) that connects to Vernazza.
Unrivaled Amenities and Service
What truly sets Porto Roca apart among hotels in Monterosso are its hospitality and amenities. For sunbathing, there is the swimming pool (a rare luxury in the area) as well as a wellness center, a sea-view restaurant, and lush terraced gardens for peaceful relaxation.
Porto Roca stands out as one of the very best hotels in Monterosso for an indulgent and serene escape.
Should You Book?
So, let me be honest. Room rates are the realm of a ‘king’s ransom’. But if that’s not an issue for you, then the classic luxury, quality services, sea views, and private location are ideal for couples and travelers who enjoy the finer things.
However, there’s no parking and the hotel is only accessible by taxi, or on foot (a 5-minute walk out of town and a 15-minute walk from the train station). But this isn’t unusual for Cinque Terre!

2. Hotel Baia: Charming and Centrally Located in Monterosso al Mare
Nestled comfortably in the lively Fegina beach area, Hotel Baia offers a delightful balance of convenience and classic Ligurian charm, often receiving high praise for its exceptional service and direct connection to the beach.
As one of the well-regarded Monterosso hotels, it strikes a perfect chord for many travelers.
Strategic Position for Exploration
This Monterosso hotel enjoys a fantastic, strategic position right on the beachfront in the new town. This means guests are constantly at the heart of the action, with seamless access to the beach, the scenic promenade, and an abundance of restaurants and cafes.
And if you visiting Cinque Terre for a few days, its proximity to the train station makes it appealing for easy day trips along the coast and around the region.

Guest Experience and Authentic Feel
Hotel Baia maintains a simple yet well-cared-for character, with many rooms offering stunning views that highlight its prime spot. Guests consistently commend the quality and variety of the breakfast, particularly the joy of dining outdoors on a terrace overlooking the sparkling sea.
For those of you that like warm hospitality, you’ll enjoy staff attentiveness, and invaluable local recommendations. Making it a highly recommended choice among hotels in Monterosso for a genuine, welcoming stay.
Should You Book?
If you value hospitality over a fancy décor, then this is the place for you! The price tag is at the lower mid-range and is ideal for couples and families on a sensible budget.

3. Albergo Degli Amici: The “Friends” Inn with Great Views
True to its name, "The Friends' Inn," Albergo Degli Amici often receives praise for its friendly, personable atmosphere and its pleasant location tucked away in the historic town.
It's a solid, value-oriented option among Monterosso hotels that doesn't skimp on charm.

Location and Approachable Comfort
Situated slightly elevated, giving some rooms pleasant views of the village rooftops and glimpses of the sea, Albergo Degli Amici strikes a balance between accessibility and a quieter setting.
It's right in the old town and a short walk to the old town beach and the new town Fegina promenade. This is a convenient base for exploration without being in the heart of the bustle.
Value and Warm Hospitality
This Monterosso hotel is often highlighted for providing good value for money in the Cinque Terre, a region where accommodation can be pricey.
You can expect friendly and welcoming staff who make guests feel genuinely at home, offering a personal touch.
Rooms are typically clean and comfortable, providing a solid base after a day of hiking or swimming.
Should You Book?
For travelers seeking a reliable, friendly, and well-located option that offers a great experience without breaking the bank, Albergo Degli Amici is one of the more accessible hotels in Monterosso and a truly great choice among Monterosso al Mare hotels.

4. Hotel Margherita: Unbeatable Old Town Centrality in Monterosso
Also nestled within the enchanting Old Town, Hotel Margherita distinguishes itself with its unrivaled centrality, offering superb accessibility to everything the historic heart of Monterosso has to offer, combined with contemporary comforts.
It's a fantastic choice for those seeking to be fully immersed in the local culture.
Immersed in Old Town Life
Hotel Margherita enjoys a truly prime spot right in the middle of Monterosso's Borgo Antico. This means guests are perpetually surrounded by the vibrant energy of the old town – its charming narrow streets, traditional trattorias, artisan shops, and historical landmarks are literally on your doorstep.
Surprisingly (and unusually) for an old town hotel, some upper level rooms come with a terrace and a view!

Comfort and Connection
From this Monterosso al Mare hotel, you're just a short stroll to the Old Town beach, the pedestrian tunnel connecting to the new town, and the boat dock, offering seamless exploration.
The hotel provides well-maintained rooms with modern amenities, as well as a pleasant communal courtyard to enjoy some downtime from the bustle.
Guests commend the friendly, efficient staff and the delicious breakfast, making it one of the best hotels in Monterosso for a convenient and truly authentic experience of the village's heart.
Should You Book?
If you want some home comforts and great amenities, but don’t have a generous budget, then a room here will be a nice surprise. A good choice for couples, families and groups!

5. Hotel Marina: Steps from the Old Town Beach and Authenticity
Situated comfortably in the quieter part of Monterosso's Old Town, close to its beach, Hotel Marina Monterosso offers a charming and convenient base for exploring the village's historic heart.
This makes it a popular choice among Monterosso hotels for those seeking a genuine local experience.
Location and Connection to Local Life
Hotel Marina Monterosso is ideally situated just moments from the Old Town's main beach (Spiaggia Fegina Vecchia), allowing for easy dips in the sea or sunbathing.
It's also perfectly placed to explore the caruggi (narrow alleys) of the Borgo Antico, with traditional restaurants, artisanal shops, and the boat dock all within a very short walk. This location offers a quieter ambiance than the new town while still being incredibly central to everything.
Warmth and Essential Comforts
Hotel Marina Monterosso is known for its warm, welcoming atmosphere and the attentive service from its staff.
The rooms are styled with a personal touch and soft furnishings to add a little comfort.
A favorite amongst guests is the treasured experience of breakfast in the serenity of the lemon garden.
Should You Book?
For travelers who prioritize an excellent location near the beach and the heart of the Old Town, combined with genuine Ligurian hospitality, Hotel Marina Monterosso is certainly one of the best hotels in Monterosso for couples and families looking for an affordable and comfortable stay.

6. Hotel La Spiaggia: The Beachfront Bliss Among Monterosso Hotels
For those whose Cinque Terre dream involves waking to the immediate sound of waves and having the beach quite literally at their doorstep, Hotel La Spiaggia is the quintessential choice.
Its very name, "The Beach" in Italian, perfectly encapsulates its primary allure among Monterosso hotels.

Location and Unbeatable Convenience
This Monterosso hotel boasts an enviable position directly opposite Fegina Beach, placing guests at the epicenter of coastal leisure. You're mere steps from the golden sand, the vibrant promenade dotted with shops and cafes.
Crucially, it’s just a two-minute stroll from the Monterosso train station and access to the Cinque Terre train line. This makes exploring the other villages of the Cinque Terre exceptionally convenient. Its location and easy access make it a prime choice among all the Monterosso al Mare hotels.

Comfort and Coastal Immersion
Hotel La Spiaggia offers a warm and inviting ambiance, characteristic of traditional seaside accommodations. Many rooms feature private balconies, providing the perfect vantage point for enjoying the sea breeze, observing beach life, or simply unwinding.
Should You Book?
Think comfort and convenience rather than luxury and refinement. The price tag is mid-range and is ideal for couples and families who enjoy the feeling of a beach holiday.

7. Hotel Souvenir: A Garden Oasis in the Heart of Monterosso
Hotel Souvenir is a delightful and surprisingly tranquil experience, set in a quiet yet central location in Monterosso.
This makes it a unique and appealing option among Monterosso hotels for those seeking peace without sacrificing convenience.

Location and Serene Setting
While very centrally located, just a short walk from both the train station and the beach, Hotel Souvenir is cleverly positioned to offer a sense of calm.
Its defining feature is the abundance of outdoor space, including a courtyard garden where guests can relax, eat breakfast, or simply unwind, creating a quiet retreat amidst the village's businesses.

Key Features and Distinctive Charm
This Monterosso hotel often garners praise for its charming, simple, and very clean rooms.
The staff are consistently noted for their warmth and helpfulness, providing excellent service and useful local tips.
Should You Book?
For those who appreciate a friendly and centrally located option with an inviting and relaxing outdoor space, Hotel Souvenir stands out as one of the best hotels in Monterosso. Especially when you factor in the lower mid-range prices.

What’s the downside? Hotel Souvenir is in the old town. So don’t expect a room with a view!

8. Hotel La Colonnina: A Welcoming Spot in the Heart of the Old Town

Located firmly in the charming medieval heart of Monterosso, Hotel La Colonnina offers a warm and welcoming base for exploring the village.
Between the staff and home comforts, you’ll have no problem relaxing into your holiday and enjoying your stay at this hotel.
Location and Old Town Immersion
Hotel La Colonnina positions guests right in the thick of Monterosso's Borgo Antico. This prime spot means you're steps away from traditional trattorias, local shops, and the vibrant daily rhythms of the old town.
The pedestrian tunnel leading to the new town and the beach is also easily accessible, offering a perfect balance between the two halves of Monterosso.

Key Aspects for a Comfortable Stay
This Monterosso hotel has elegant rooms and pleasant common areas where you can relax and enjoy sea views over the terracotta roofs.
Breakfast is typically highlighted as a good start to the day.
Unusually in this area, the hotel has nearby (limited) private parking that can be reserved at an extra cost.
Should You Book?
For travelers prioritizing a centrally located and genuinely hospitable experience, this is certainly one of the best hotels in Monterosso in its category.
It's a reliable choice and great for anyone with a car.

Writer’s Pick of Monterosso Hotels

Hotel Porto Roca is undoubtedly the best hotel in Monterosso, but I personally don’t budget for high-end. Luxury is always nice, but I like active holidays and will set aside more of my travel budget for food and cultural experiences, and adventures.
Unless it’s for a special occasion, I tend to book mid-range hotels. I prefer comfortable and well-styled hotels, with an outdoor area (and if I can get it), a room with a view.
I’m also fussy when it comes to having a clean, modern bathroom. Which is something that can be harder to find in Italian hotels, especially in that mid-range price point.
For those reasons, my pick is Hotel Margherita. It deserves to be on the list of top Monterosso hotels and is great value for money.

If I had to choose a backup option, then Hotel Marina comes a close second. We had friends stay there last year and gave it a solid review. I also like the idea of breakfast in the lemon garden.

Both of these Monterosso hotels are in the old town and neither has direct sea views. However, Monterosso al Mare is so small that the beach is within a pleasant 5 to 10 minute walk. Hardly worth worrying about.
Top Tips for Booking Your Perfect Monterosso Hotel

I have traveled extensively in Italy and can share my top tips for finding and booking great accommodation:
• Use a reputable booking platform. One with a transparent cancellation policy and has secure payment options. Booking platforms like booking.com also have a huge selection of accommodation, have the best deals, and don’t charge additional booking fees.
• Check the facilities. There are some amenities in Italian hotels that come as standard and others that are less common. For example, in most hot countries, I would expect air conditioning to come as standard. But this isn’t normal in Italy. So don’t take things for granted. Look for amenities that matter to you. Personally, I always check for comfortable beds and modern bathrooms.
• Parking a car. Car parking spots in Cinque Terre are like gold dust. If you need parking, then you may need to contact the hotel directly to reserve a spot or get some advice on where to find secure local parking lots.
• Book ahead. The best accommodation gets booked at least 2 months ahead of time. Don’t leave it to the last minute. Cinque Terre is not the type of place that offers last-minute discounted rooms. There is just too much demand!
• Location. Monterosso is a small (mostly flat) town. It’s easily walkable and the old town and new town are conveniently linked by a pedestrian tunnel. The location of most hotels are close to the sea in the new town at Fegina beach or in the old historic town.
Summary: Selecting from the Best Monterosso Hotels
In this unsponsored list (meaning I haven’t accepted any payment to write this post), I’ve shared my honest opinion so that you can now plan your holiday to Cinque Terre and choose a hotel in Monterosso al Mare with more confidence.
Each of these best 8 Monterosso hotels promises a unique and memorable stay, allowing you to perfectly tailor your adventure in this stunning Ligurian gem.

FAQs
Which part of Monterosso is best for hotels – Old Town or New Town?
The "best" part of Monterosso depends on your preferences! The New Town (Fegina beach area) is ideal if you prioritize immediate beach access, sea views, direct proximity to the train station, and a livelier, more open atmosphere. Hotels like La Spiaggia and Baia are perfect here.
The Old Town (Borgo Antico), on the other hand, offers more historical charm, narrower streets, and an authentic vibe, with hotels such as Margherita, La Colonnina, and Marina providing an Italian experience. The old town hotels also typically give more value for money! Both areas are easily connected by a short tunnel or the scenic coastal walk.
Are there Monterosso al Mare hotels with parking, and is it necessary?
Parking in the Cinque Terre is notoriously challenging and often expensive. While most hotels in Monterosso do not offer private parking due to space constraints, a few notable exceptions, like La Colonnina, have private spots that can be reserved (for a fee).
Otherwise, you'll need to use one of the two public parking lots (typically costing upwards of 25 Euros per day). For most visitors, making use of the frequent and easy Cinque Terre train service is the best option.
What is the average price range for the best hotels in Monterosso?
Accommodation prices in Cinque Terre tend to be reflective of demand for this much sought-after holiday destination.
Generally, you can expect to find mid-range options around €150-€200 per night in peak season. Similar to cities like Rome and Milan.
The best hotels in Monterosso with prime locations (like sea views, gourmet restaurant, pools) such as Hotel Porto Roca can range from €500+ per night.
Off-season rates are typically lower. Booking well in advance, especially for summer travel, is always advisable.
Are any Monterosso hotels suitable for families with children?
Yes, several Monterosso hotels are well-suited for families. The New Town (Fegina area), with its larger, sandy beach and more open promenade, is generally very family-friendly.
Hotels like Hotel La Spiaggia and Hotel Baia are excellent choices due to their close beach access and proximity to amenities. Some hotels also offer larger family rooms or suites.
Can I easily access the hiking trails and other Cinque Terre villages from Monterosso?
Absolutely! Monterosso is an excellent base for exploring the Cinque Terre, and all the hotels in Monterosso listed in this blog post provide convenient access:
• The SVA hiking trails that connect the villages start directly from Monterosso.
• The train station is also easily accessible (especially from hotels like La Spiaggia and Baia).
• You can also catch ferries from Monterosso's old town dock to other villages, providing stunning sea views.

Hi there!

I have recorded a video reproducing the test:
hidden link

The only thing I see is for example ‘king’s ransom’ --> it is using double quotes on translation "riscatto del re"

Is this what you are meaning?

June 26, 2025 at 3:21 pm #17174395

justinK-16

Hi Paola

Thanks, the double quotes on "riscatto del re" is expected/fine with me. As was the other situation.

It obviously did not bring up an error for you.

We use Elementor to create/edit posts not in the WP editor, so I don't know if that makes a difference?

In case you did not see the image I sent Alejandro with all the errors, I have attached it below. It is from the same post/text.

You said there was a new version, I am using Version 4.7.6 Is this the latest?
If not, I will update to the latest and test again tomorrow or the next day, depending on the DB testing.

Do you have any other thoughts as to why it is happening for me but not on your system? Other plugin conflict?

Ok thanks.

Can you share this text document with me? That way I can prepare a test site with elementor and do some tests.

Or let me know the page where I can see the problema.

Hi Paola

It is the same text that I added above. If you prefer, I can send you a Word document. Just let me know, and I'll edit out all the irrelevant stuff.

I usually cut and paste the text from a Word doc into the respective elements in Elementor Pro.

The problem does not exist anymore as I check and correct the translation in the ATE as I go. We don't allow the incorrect (weird-looking) translations to go live. We try to keep everything professional and as correct as possible.

Let me know if you still want the link for the page that the errors appeared on (from the screenshot)
