Thanks Long Nguyen; yes, adjusting line 32 does indeed solve the issue! I've left it set to NULL on that staging server if you'd like to check it out.

Now that we know where the issue stems from, is there a way to do this without editing core plugin files so future maintenance/updates are less risky?
