This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is managing a WordPress website using WP Event Manager with WPML, with Bulgarian as the main language and English as the secondary language. They encounter issues when accessing event pages in English directly, often resulting in a 404 error. However, accessing the same event in Bulgarian and then switching to English using the language switcher loads the page correctly.
Solution:
We recommend testing the website in a staging environment with only WPML and WP Event Manager plugins active to isolate the issue. This approach helps determine if the problem is specific to the plugin interaction or another underlying issue. Monitoring the site for any specific triggers causing the 404 error can also be beneficial.

If this solution does not resolve the issue or seems irrelevant due to being outdated or not applicable to your case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If problems persist, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Background of the issue:
I am trying to manage a simple WordPress website using WP Event Manager with WPML. The main language is Bulgarian, and English is the secondary language. I encounter issues when accessing event pages in English. For example, when I click on an event from this page: hidden link, it sometimes works, but often results in a 404 error. However, if I access the same event in Bulgarian and then switch to English using the language switcher, the page loads correctly. The issue can be seen here: hidden link.

Symptoms:
When accessing event pages in English directly, I often receive a 404 error. However, switching from Bulgarian to English using the language switcher resolves the issue.

Questions:
What could be causing the 404 error when accessing event pages in English directly?
How can I fix the issue so that English event pages load correctly without switching languages?

Hello,

thanks for contacting us.

I have checked your website, but I can not see a 404 error happening, seems to work fine. If the issue happens occasionally it would be difficult for us to debug. I suggest to try and monitor if any specific issue is causing it, or try to test if the same issue happens when using only WPML plugins and events plugins, preferably on the staging site.

Let us know, regards.

Hello!

The issue is very much persistent and after my latest tests in incognito mode - it happens all the time.
I made a video to show you the steps and what I mean:

I've already tried disabling all the other plugins, and even if only WPML and WP Events are active, the problem persists.

Hello,

thanks for coming back.

I have checked and I can see now the issue, and even it happening in BG/default language, so it does not need to mean it is a WPML issue.

1) Please check if the issue still happens even when WPML is disabled.

2.) With WPML enabled check for you htaccess files and if any additional /en/ was added to rewrite rules.

Let me know.

Thanks,
Drazen

Thanks! It turns out that the plugin "Pixel your site" causes the problem. I don't know if it has an issue with WPML, or something else, but disabling fixed it. I guess the previous time I disabled plugins, I didn't tick it and it was still active during my tests.
