Hello,

I’m writing to request clarification on two separate WPML Export & Import use cases with WooCommerce.

1) Already multilingual catalog – single-language bulk updates
In a catalog already correctly linked (IT default, EN secondary, products linked via _wpml_import_translation_group and “Run WPML Import” already completed), we noticed that:

performing a CSV import for EN only, using Update existing products,

and then running “Run WPML Import” again,

may cause products to become disconnected from the original language.

This happens especially when the CSV comes from a WooCommerce export and automatically includes WPML columns (_wpml_import_language_code, _wpml_import_source_language_code, _wpml_import_translation_group).

Question: what is the official recommended workflow to bulk-update a single language in an already multilingual catalog?
Should WPML columns be removed from update-only CSV files, and should “Run WPML Import” be avoided in this scenario?

2) Adding translations starting from a single language (undocumented workflow)
Starting from an Italian-only catalog, the only stable workflow we found was:

export IT CSV from WooCommerce

set _wpml_import_translation_group = SKU

reimport IT using Update existing products

create EN CSV from IT CSV, removing the ID column

translate content while keeping Italian category names

import EN

run “WPML Export & Import”

This works correctly but is undocumented.
Could you please confirm whether this workflow is supported, or indicate the official recommended procedure?

Thank you for your clarification.

Kind regards
