This thread is resolved. Here is a description of the problem and solution.

Problem:
The client is experiencing an issue where the WPML plugin cannot connect to wpml.org, despite trying various solutions from the forum.
Solution:
1. Request your hosting support to whitelist the requests to wpml.org, cdn.wpml.org, and api.wpml.org.
2. Update OpenSSL on your server.
3. Check if WPML is registered under Plugins > Add new > Commercial. If it is, the error might be a false positive due to cached information. We recommend clearing the WPML cache under WPML > Support > Troubleshooting.
4. Review additional steps and similar cases in the WPML forum: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-plugin-cannot-connect-to-wpml-org-9/ and https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-plugin-cannot-connect-to-wpml-org-29/#post-9068077
5. Check server settings that might be affecting the connection as discussed in the WPML forum: https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-plugin-cannot-connect-to-wpml-5/#post-8107577
6. Explore more solutions by searching the WPML forum through this custom Google search link: https://www.google.com/search?q=site%3Awpml.org%2Fforums+WPML+plugin+cannot+connect+to+wpml+org

If these steps do not resolve your issue, or if the solution seems outdated or irrelevant to your specific case, we highly recommend checking related known issues at https://wpml.org/known-issues/, verifying the version of the permanent fix, and confirming that you have installed the latest versions of themes and plugins. If necessary, please open a new support ticket at WPML support forum for further assistance.

Hi there.

1. Can you please ask your hosting support to whitelist the requests to wpml.org, cdn.wpml.org, and api.wpml.org so that they can pass?

2. Another thing that could solve the issue is to update OpenSSL on the server.

3. Also, if WPML shows up as registered here (Plugins > Add new > Commercial), what is showing up at the top might be a false positive, related to some cached information that still exists so you should not worry about it as the issue might be cache-related (please take a look at the steps recommended by my colleague in the ticket below):
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-plugin-cannot-connect-to-wpml-org-9/

I also suggest to first go to WPML > Support > Troubleshooting > and clear the WPML cache. Then see if the issue is resolved.

4. You can also try this:
https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-plugin-cannot-connect-to-wpml-org-29/#post-9068077

You can also try to see if the server that the website lives on has any active caching that needs to be cleared. You can even ask the Support department of the hosting company that provides the server to you and see if they can clear the cache for you.

5. Sometimes, this issue can also be related to some specific settings on the server.

Please take a look here (https://wpml.org/forums/topic/wpml-plugin-cannot-connect-to-wpml-5/#post-8107577) and see if that helps.

6. There are also a good amount of ticket results in the custom link that I created below for you where you might find a solution for your situation:

Please let me know if the issue is still happening after you try those steps.

Kind regards,
