Background of the issue:
I use WPML to translate articles into different languages on my WordPress site. Everything was fine until the new update. Now, WPML translates an article in the background and indicates it is completely translated. However, the translated article does not appear on the page or in the admin. Symptoms:
The translated article doesn't appear on the site and still appears as untranslated, despite WPML indicating the translation process is complete.

Why does the translated article not appear on the site?
What could be causing the translation process to not complete properly?
