[Waiting for user feedback] XLIFF Server Communication and PHP Warnings: simplexml_load_string() issues

Background of the issue:
I am trying to translate pages with WPML. I encountered issues while translating the page at hidden link. On December 2nd, the translator attempted to translate this page.
Symptoms:
I am seeing lots of PHP Warnings for simplexml_load_string() in the PHP error log and errors in WPML --> Support --> Error Logs.
There is a recurring error in the error log: '2024/12/18 5:07:39 PM XLIFF Server Communication The xliff file could not be read. 4124 122037531 {"downloadUrl":"hidden link'.
I tried to cancel the In Progress jobs for this page under WPML --> Translation Management --> Jobs, but the jobs don't go away after being cancelled. The status changes to 'In progress - Needs update' and the errors continue in the logs.
Questions:
How can I resolve the simplexml_load_string() PHP warning?
How can I resolve the errors shown in the WPML Error Logs?
Why do the translation jobs not disappear after being cancelled?

If I valdate the source code of the original content I get:
Trailing slash on void elements
In HTML5, void elements (like <link>, <img>, <br>, <meta>, etc.) do not require a trailing slash (e.g., <link />). It is considered outdated to use the trailing slash on self-closing elements, and modern browsers do not require it.

I edited the original content "Ocean Awareness Contest" and saved it.
Then I made sure, that the contents are translated to 100% and that all HTML markers are set as expected. There was at least one bold texts for list items, that needed to be set.
Currently the content is translated completely into the other languages.

If I exclude the posts slug (Part of URL for this content) from translation and let WPML generate the slug based on the title of the post, it solves the issue.

When testing with the latest beta versions of WPML 4.7.0 and WPML String Translation 3.3.0 the issue does not longer opccur.
I suggest for now, you use those updates, which are available at wpml.org or you do not translate the slugs.
Also, take note, that at the moment it appears to be expected, that once a slug is translated but it is identical to the slug of the original post, you will need to apply the translation again when opening the translation the next time.
I am currently asking our ATE Team about how far this behavior is expected and if there are plans to solve such issue.
Workaround:
Make sure to translate the slug and use a different slug in each language.

I just spoke to the Second Tier Support for issues with the Advanced Translation Editor.
Take kindly note that this slug translation issue will be solved in the next update for the Advanced Translation Editor.
You will not need to update any plugin for this fix. The Advanced Translation Editor runs on an external server and our devs will implement the fix into this server soon.
For now, please avoid translating the slugs, so that you will be able to complete the translations.
