I am trying to: translate meta descriptions and meta titles of WooCommerce category pages with the Yoast SEO plugin. After translating the translated content dissapears after a few days from the front-end. Some of the original content is also showing translated content even though it should be in Dutch it is in German, see: hidden link.
Link to a page where the issue can be seen: hidden link
I expected to see: A translated meta title: 'Pilze | SmokingHotXL'. and translated meta description: 'Entdecken Sie heilende Pilzkräfte, bereichern Sie Ihr Bewusstsein oder züchten Sie gesunde Pilze. Bei SmokingHotXL finden Sie alles.'.
Clearing cache seems to have fixed the issue. However we clear the cache almost on a daily basis and Google has indexed some of the broken pages. Are you sure this was the fix? Or can it break again?
Based on your response and the initial description of the issue seems that it is related to the cache of the website. I would suggest checking the configuration of the cache plugin/module you are using and see if there is any option related to minimizing script and caching plugins, which might create this issue.
To be fully certain that the cache is the issue, I would suggest disabling for a few days the cache plugin/module and checking if the issue persists.
* Leaving the configuration of the cache plugin/module as it is, probably the issue will happen again.
Clearing the cache does not seem to work for every page. For example: hidden link (is now fixed by updating page). I have also tried disabeling the caching plugin after clearing the cache. This does not solve the issue.
After updating the content (without changing anything) in the back-end the issues seem to dissapear. Any other ideas on how I can fix this issue?
I have created a staging website and deactivated all unnecessary plugins. Next to that I have activated the Twenty Twenty-Four theme. I have cleared the cache and disabled the caching plugin. This page (hidden link) is still showing English content in the meta title and meta description.
I would need temporary access to your website to investigate this issue and understand it better.
The staging site is better so we can check without causing any damage to the live site.
Please fully back up your site (files and database) and confirm it in your next reply.
* Note: I might need to enable/disable plugins and switch themes.
I would need access to your site's WP-admin (please create an administrator user using any email address you prefer).
Your next reply is set to private for you to provide the username and password details.
Thank you for the access.
On the back end as far as I was able to check the translation for the Yoast SEO field is correct, in the front end, I see the issue.
Can you please go to WPML -> Support -> Troubleshooting page, then click the following, and on the Clean Up section press the following buttons one by one and wait for each process to finish:
- Clear the Cache in WPML
- Remove ghost entries from the translation tables
- Fix element_type collation
- Fix WPML table collation
- Set language information
- Fix post type assignment for translations
* Note: Please make sure you have a full backup of your website before making any updates/changes to your website.
* I notice that you are using the LiteSpeed server, could you please check if there is a cache mechanism on the server side?
I have followed your steps and the issue did not resolve. Caching is not enabled in the hosting plan. Did these same steps resolve the issue on the staging website?
I have done that before. The translations seems to dissapear after a few days, but I will try again and let you know. Maybe the previous steps helped in that.
Unfortunately the problem keeps coming back. 4 Out of the 5 categories I manually updated are showing the wrong translations again. Is there anything else we can try to fix this problem? Due to this problem my client is having very bad results on his SEO.
Here are the categories:
1. hidden link (correct)
2. hidden link (showing Dutch)
3. hidden link (showing Dutch)
4. hidden link (showing Dutch)
5. hidden link (showing Dutch)
Kind regards,
Luc de Koning
